Chapter 13

Haejin's POV

I am still holding the apple that Minhyuk-ssi gave me.

I pouted my lips. Why do I even have to eat this? It's as if it'll save me from getting sick!

That “an apple a day keeps the doctors away” is a lie. I don't believe that... well... I used to.

I sighed heavily while arranging my eyeglasses on my nose bridge.

When I was young, I used to buy my mom a lot of apples thinking that the doctor will leave my mom alone and he'll say she can go back home.

I stared at the empty space in front of me.

Anne unnie... Minhyuk-ssi told me that she was diagnosed of Brain Tumor five years ago.

She has the same disease with my mom... and my mom died because of it...

**Flashback**

Minyuk-ssi and I went out and took a seat along the hospital's hallway just near Anne unnie's room.

I don't know what to say. Should I ask him? Or maybe not. It would be better just to keep my mouth shut, right? I didn't know that Anne unnie was diagnosed of a terminal illness. I was not aware that her condition is too much for everyone around her to handle.

I can now understand why amidst of all, Anne unnie's boyfriend is still here. Minhyuk can't let go of her.

"You told me that seeing Anne in bed reminded you of someone."

I turned to look at him, startled.

He could’ve at least tried not to surprise me by talking out of the blue ><

"Ah... yeah." I answered shortly.

"We're not that close. This is the first time we spoke. But... Would you mind if I’d ask who that person is?" He asked, leaning on the chair.

He seemed to be more relaxed now. So I can talk, right?

"No, I don't mind at all." I started. "Anyways, it's me who opened that up."

He didn't respond. He's just staring at the ceiling while leaning on the chair. Then his eyes moved to look at me.

Geez! >_<

"Uhh... yeah, uhh I'm talking about my mom." I said.

This guy is somehow like Hyungwon-ssi. I don't know why, but the way they act and they behave almost the same. Well... but, I guess, H.One is scarier.

"What happened to your mom?" He asked.

I took a heavy sigh before answering. I didn't know it's still hard to talk about her after all these years.

"She died about 9 years ago." I answered.

"I'm... sorry to hear that."

"No, that's okay." I half smiled.

"She was hospitalized before she died and that's why seeing Anne in bed reminds you of her." He stated.

Is Minhyuk-ssi always like this? >< he should let me finish first.

"Yes. She died because of Brain Tumor." I said.

My heart tingled a bit, a bit of pain that still lingers. I miss you, mom.

I waited for Minhyuk-ssi to react or to respond but there was none. So, I turned to look at him and found him astonished on his seat, staring blankly.
