" That's the thing about snakes you don't step on them, they don't got any reason to bite" It's me and Jughead's first day and Southside High, I couldn't be more excited to not be treated like dirt on the bottom of people's shoe anymore, sure the school it's self is dirty and not filled with many educational benefits but at least here it's level playing field.
Jughead is dragging his feet as he goes up the steps to the doorway, I feel bad for he having to leave his friends but I just don't get whats to miss about the Scooby Gang.
I have yet to meet any serpents my own age and since I'm joining now seems like the perfect opportunity... and if you're wondering if I have told Jughead about my new obligations no I have not, He's been let down his whole life from just about everyone I hate being another disappointment.
Now we have to wait in a long ass line for the medal detectors, " Down side of living in gang central am I right" I try to make light of this obvious hard situation for Jug but He just gives me one fake smile once we get to the front I go through first and on the other side is a man waiting, just looking 'ecstatic' to be there. Did you get the sarcasm?
" you're good"
but once Jughead goes through the machine starts going off, I smirk.
" It's the pins in my hat" and the security tells him to go again, I waltz over and rip the hat off his head and playfully throw it down on the table.. that got a smile out of him. "Forsythe Pendleton Jones the third and Kylie Bree Jones" I hear someone say from behind me and I turn around to be met with the smile of a pink haired girl, just before she snaps a picture of Jughead, earning a laugh from yours truly. " it's Jughead actually" he replies trying to sound polite " Hey I've seen you before, you bartend at the Wyrm right" I say beaming at smile her direction "Yeah, I've seen you a couple of times in there, next time you're there make sure to come see me" she extends her hand to me then next Jughead " I'm Toni Topaz, I was supposed to give you the full animatronic tour, but some robots went insane and started killing the guests, so, we'll just wing it. Classrooms don't have Wi-Fi, bathroom stalls don't have doors" She says showing us around " What about the Red and Black?" he says searching for something to look forward to " Yeah... no longer exist, censorship? budget cuts? take your pick" she says bluntly, I put my hand on his back trying to be supportive.. but never been great at it "Over here you'll find Jingle Jangle being consumed in its natural habitat" Jughead looks confused and questions what that is. " This place is crawling with the JJ" Toni and I say and the same time turning are direction to each other bursting into laughter. "I have a feeling we are gonna be good friends Topaz" " same here Jones.. anyway Jingle Jangle is a highly addictive total gutter drug, so let's not touch that" Jughead looks over at the Gholies who are downing the JJ and smirks making fun of them name under his breathe as we continue walking. Next stop the cafeteria, she explains the whole seating arrangement and shows us where the serpents sit, in which Jug responds "Actually I'm just gonna sit alone, Ky you can sit other there if you want" " You sure?" I ask " Positive" I feel bad leaving him but if I'm gonna be a serpent I need to make some friends on the inside. With that Toni and I start over to the Serpents side " I'm confused aren't you guys serpents by blood, kids of FP Jones?" I chuckle out " Yeah, Juggie self identifies as a loner not much for pack animal activities" she just nods Soon we stop at a table with two boys sitting, I assume we're her friends " Guys, this is Kylie Jones, FP Jones daughter so try and not piss her off, and I mean you Sweet pea" she says play glaring at and extremely tall serpent with a snake tattoo on his neck, the other boy sitting next to him sweetly smiled at me " I'm Fangs, your nickname is Little Jones right" I look at him confused " How'd you know that?" " Joaquin and I used to hang out, he talked about you all the time" I smile just thinking of him, I wish he was here it'd be so much easier. " Why are you even here?" Sweet Pea says glaring at me " I'm sorry, did I do something to do?" I angrily let out " No, I'm just not really down with Northsiders coming over here pretending to be serpents when they don't belong" I give him the deeps death glare I've given in a while and leaning across the table close enough to feel his breathes against my face " Never call me that again, and I do belong here just as much as anyone else. Don't make me prove it" I spit out and lean off the table standing straight up crossing my arms and he just smirks at me " I'm so glad we're all getting along" Fangs says clapping.

==================================== Once I round the corner I run right into a small body of Toni Topaz. " Woah, slow your roll Little Jones where are you off too in such a hurry" she says laughing " I'm going to meet Jughead, seems he's getting the Red and Black started up" " that's where I'm going soooo...." she says turning my body facing the same direction she's going " means you're going the wrong way" she smiles ==================================== After we arrive Jughead starts a speech on asking Toni to be the photographer for the paper with him, while I lallygag around waiting for her to finish so we can go hang out, it feels great to say that.. I have a friend, and not just like Joaquin who didn't get the whole girl stuff. I throw some old books off the top of some dusty ass old desk and jump up to sit on it swing my legs every once in a while, once Toni agrees to do it, Sweet Pea, Fangs and a few other guys walk in. " Topaz let's bounce" he speaks glaring right at me the whole time his gaze moves from me to my brother " Jones, wanna come with? we're going to the quarry." I jump off the desk and walk straight up to him, towering over me " I will" " I didn't ask you" he smirks down at me " This" I say pointing to my face " is me not caring" He laughs to himself rolling his eyes then looks to my twin for his answer " uh- I don't have my beach body yet" He jokes trying to get out of hanging with the serpents " what? so you'll ask for help from the serpents, but you won't hang out with us? Well don't come crawling to us hat in hand when some ghoulie wants to take out one of FP Jones's kid" you can literally see the smoke coming out of this kids ears " Thank you, Sweet Peas. I do appreciate all you and the serpents have done for me and my family, but I'm done, no more favors coming your way" Sweet Pea then goes to lunge at Jug, when I step in putting my hand on his chest " I wouldn't" Are eyes don't leave each other's for a second instead we just stare at each other in silence but honestly I am not sure if it was murderous rage or sexual tension anymore. " Hey, Jughead made up his mind. and take a hint Sweet Pea, she's just not that into you" Toni Breaks ups apart. " Lets motor" he says backing away from my hand that I forgot was still resting on his chest " See you at home Jug" I look back.
