Her hands carefully flew across the paper, trailing a black river of ink. Wings sprouted from the pen, feathering in an upward straight. The edges curled. The black river blotted. The ink soaked through the paper and stained the dark auburn counter. She reeked faintly of wine and vinegar, smudged with iron gall. She let out a sigh of desperation. And exhaustion, but she trekked forward and finished the monochrome painting with a power level of only three hours of sleep. She was up all night with Malichi and Levin, fixing the mechanics of the gaurd towers.
"Alice?" A voice called from her bedroom door. She panicked, shoving the wet drawing under her bed and hiding the ink and pens in a man-built compartment within her desk. She looked back at herself, black ink covering her at this point. She lifted the compartment and pulled one of the pens, digging the tip in her forearm. The ink quickly flowed to the pen tip, leaving her looking semi-normal.
"Come in, Malachi," she replied. The door slowly opened, reveling a brunette draped in green cloth that tore and ripped too easily.
"I was worried about you for a second," he continued. "You've been cooped up in your room for three days now."
"I'm fine," she lied. "Really."
"Okay, because we kinda need you right now." Malachi avoided Alice's eyes, scratching the back of his neck. "If its not too much trouble." Alice sighed and slipped on a pair of gold buckled, leather boots and shooed Malachi out as she closed the door, and stepped in the hallway of Malachi and Levin's home.
"What do you need me to do?" Alice asked.
"We need your help on the village's farms. Their water supply keeps become clogged or it dries up, and we don't have enough resources to fix it." Alice stopped outside the house, giving the back of Malachi's head a glare.
"And what makes you think that I have those resources?" He turned, a bit of panic sweeping away his expressions.
"I didn't mean it like that. Just that we need a third party to help us decide what to do," he said.
"Fine. Which way do we go first?"

Okay, so before you all lose your shit about how much this sucked, I already realize that it's shit. So don't tell me.
I've been kinda swallowed in the depths of Hunger Games Messenger. So sorry 'bout that. I just wanted to give them a bit of something happy after the events of Ep. 5 of Starlight Wonderland in the Aphmau series.
