Cardfight Vanguard (Ayumi Haruko x Aichi Sendou)

Following Kai

Ayumi's POV

After school as usual, Aichi, me, Morikawa and Izuki stopped by Card Capital, and we learned that Shin added a new feature, called a stand fight table. While Morikawa and Kamui were arguing as loud as ever, Aichi and me were talking with Miwa.

"I was hoping I bump into Kai today." Aichi said. "That so, well Kai's a pretty hard guy to keep track of." Miwa said. "That's to bad." Aichi replied, sounding sad. "It's ok Aichi, we'll see him soon. Plus, if he doesn't appear, I'll drag him here myself!" I exclaimed. "Hehe, um you don't have to. I don't want it to be a burden on you." Aichi replied.

"Still as innocent as ever." I said. "Huh?" "Nevermind." I said. "What gives Aichi, you are Kai fan?" Miwa joked. "Yeah, he's a really good player and I wanna have another Cardfight with him." Aichi said back, sounding more disappointed. "Miwa, make another joke like that, and I smack you into the stratosphere." I thought, giving him my glare.

Morikawa came over and tried to challenge Aichi to a Cardfight, only to be mocked by Kamui and his friends. Eiji and Reiji are as loud as ever I see.

"Someone better call the ambulance quick." Misaki said, sounding quite angry, not that I blamed her, considering how loud it is. Misaki soons scares the boys out of the Card shop, and I follow along as well. Morikawa tries to blame Aichi and Miwa, only to get my glare to shut him up.

"Well we're heading to my house, ok?" Morikawa said. "Kay, see you later" Aichi said.
After we said our goodbyes to Kamui's friends, we continued walking. "Look like we all live in the same neighborhood." Miwa said. "I guess we do." Aichi said. "That's seem nice, maybe I'll swing by your place later, Aichi." I said, smiling. "W-W-What?!" He asked.

"What? Is that a problem?" I asked, curious. "N-No, not at all." Aichi said. Well walking, we saw Kai. After getting a little curious to know about Kai, we decide to stal... I-I mean follow him.

As we followed him, I kept encouraging to keep follow him with us. "We should turn back." Aichi said. "Don't worry Aichi, we won't get caught." I replied. In the end, we were caught nonetheless by Kai.

"Miwa, aren't you a little old to be playing detective with these kids?" Kai asked. "Well um, you're never to old to make-believe." Miwa said, laughing very nervously. "I'm sorry." Aichi said. "This is all my fault. You see, I wonder about you sometimes."

"Aichi..." I can't believe he's taking the blame for someone else. That's so like him. I decided to jump in when Kai took Aichi to mind his own business. "Ok, that's it! Listen Kai, Aichi was just a little curious about you! It's not his fault that he wanted to get to know you better. Now maybe you don't have to tell us anything, but you could try to be a little more honest with how you feel, you know!" I said, feeling frustrated.

"And first of all, Aichi's not weak!" I said. After letting out my frustration, Kamui challenges Kai to a cardfight, and I just stayed quiet the whole time. "Ayumi?" Aichi asked me. "I'm good." I said, quiet.

After we made it back to the shop, I watch the cardfight in silence, analyzing the battle and Kai's cards.

Aichi's POV

As we watched the Cardfight unfold, I couldn't help but keep looking back at Ayumi, looking sad. "Ayumi..." I hope she wasn't mad at me for her having to protect me as usual. It's always been the same, ever since we were little.

I would get bullied by the other kids and Ayumi would be there, fighting to protect me.
I wanted to try and thank her, by when she moved away, I never got the chance to. When Ayumi moved back here, I was really shocked at how much she changed.

The old Ayumi would never like to wear ribbons. She would always like to wear bows but then after I tied her ribbon on one day, she started to wear the green ones I gave her.

I snapped out of my thoughts and noticed Misaki calling to get my attention.

Ayumi's POV

"I hope Aichi doesn't think i was to loud for my sudden outburst, it's just... I can't stand it when someone acts so arrogant and tries to talk about someone like that." I thought.

"I can worry about this later, let's just try to focus on the cardfight." I said to myself.

So far in the cardfight, Kamui and Kai were at different damage, with Kai at 5 and Kamui at 4, but Kai used Nehalem and Vortex Dragon, attacking Invincible and Dumpty, which since Kamui didn't have many cards in his hand, Kai won using his Soulblast, which were 8 stack.

"Amazing..." I thought.

"That all you got." Kai said. Before Kai left, Aichi told him how he still plan to get stronger and Kai leaves, before giving me a small stare. "Huh?" I thought.

"Ayumi!" Aichi called out to me. "Oh! Um, hey Aichi." I said. I'm sorry for my loud outburst early, I'll try to be a little more calm." I said. "No." Aichi replied. "Huh?" I asked. "I'm glad that you worry about me, and I'm sorry that you always have to always defend me because I'm always afraid." Aichi said. "

That's not true Aichi, I think you're really amazing. You keep moving forward, no matter how much you struggle. You always smile in the end, no matter what's in your way, so I want to support you on your goal."

"Ayumi..." Aichi muttered to me. "So...Make sure to keep getting better! And then one day, fight Kai! I know that you'll achieve your goal of having another Cardfight with Kai." I said.

"Thank you, I know I will!" Aichi said smiling, sounding full of hope and determination in his eyes.

"When you have someone with you, that person can bring out the best in you. That person is your strength as well as your light. To me, Aichi is my strength. I hope to be his light, shining his path through the cold darkness." I thought.

"Alright, let's go practice some Cardfighting, Aichi!" I said. "Y-Yeah! Let's go!" Aichi replied.
