There was no debate. I was going. A messenger from Matali arrived at the palace just before sunrise this morning. He had word that Mahdi was stabbed, Des was injured, and there was still no word from Astrid. Neela was protesting on not going, but I was going no matter what.

The prince consort is in a different realm, and dying. The High Commander is also in a different realm. Which leaves my highest ranking advisor. They had already been informed that I was leaving, and they knew what to do if Lucia had doubled back to Miromara.

Neela was packing her own back. She told me that if she couldn't talk me out of going, that she was going with me.

So I pulled out one of my old jackets, and strapped my old dagger to my hip. I wasn't going to go unarmed, and with a group. It was just going to be Neela and I.

I swim out of my room, and down to the stables. Neela was already there, and her hippokamp was saddled. I saddle Chleo.

"You ready?" I ask her.

"Yeah. Let's just get there," Neela said.

I click the reigns on Chleo, and we're off. It was going to be a long ride.

—————————————————————

It was well into the afternoon. We were about a mile from the city. Then it came out of nowhere. A girl, no older than me came swimming our way. Her face was saddened, and she looked like she was crying. I stopped Chleo.

The girl was mumbling something before she swam up to us.

"I'm so sorry regina. Please forgive me," the girl said.

"Sorry for what?" I asked confused.

"Sorry for what I am about to do."

The girl began to glow red. In the back of my mind I knew what was about to happen. I steered Chleo away from the girl, and near a rock. The girl exploded, and I was launched off of Chleo.

My head hit the nearby rock hard. Chleo whined from wherever she was, and Neela cried out. My vision began to go blurry at the edges. I couldn't hear, I couldn't see, I felt limp against the sea floor. I tried to move to Neela, but I couldn't. What came next I couldn't tell. It was either the screaming pain from my wrist, or Matalian guards rushing over the sand bar.

I fell limp onto the sea floor. My vision began to fade out little by little until I didn't see anything at all.
