Ryan’s POV:
“Jacks, wake up.” I say, gently shaking the sleeping boy’s shoulder. He and I had fallen asleep soon after I sent Darius’ soul to hell.“What time is it?” He moaned out, sleepily.
“Time for us to get the fuck out of here and go look for Emily.”
“Oh, shit!” First time I’ve heard an angel curse. Looks like my attitude’s starting to rub off on him. He quickly springs up from the couch and gathers up his clothes to get dressed once more. I had already been dressed before I woke my sleeping angel.
“Don’t swear like that. We might not have much time. She’s here somewhere, I can sense her, but I’m not sure how much longer she’ll be alive for if we don’t get to her soon.” I say, scanning the building in search for Emily. Demons have what could be considered as a soul detection talent. Although, mine was weakened a couple years ago by another Godslayer. I close my eyes in an attempt to heighten my pneuma perception: It works. I’ve found Emily. Taking a mental note of where she was, I grabbed Jacky’s wrist, dragging him up the stairs after me. We soon reach the top step and he and I run into the room that was just at the end of the hallway. There, we saw a blonde woman, tied up and covered in blood, presumably her own. Jacky ran to her in complete shock and disbelief.
“Emily...” He whimpered softly, taking an old, dirty rag away from her mouth.
“JACKY WATCH OUT!” She shouts, looking at me. He turns around, just as I come up behind him to try and help untie his friend. “YOU STAY AWAY FROM HIM, YOU FUCKING HELLION!” Another term used to insult the descendents of Hell.
“I’m not going to hurt either of you.” I say defensively. Emily doesn’t seem to want to believe me.
“Jack has been beaten, bruised heartbroken and left for dead befo-”
“Emily, this is Ryan. He’s the one who helped track you down, and he killed Darius.” Jacky said calmly, cutting her off.
“Y-You let an Incubus into your life?” She asked in complete disbelief that her best friend, her brother, had fallen for a demon. Jacky slowly nodded.
“He’s trying to be good. He asked me to help him.”
“Jack, I-” Emily seemed to be at a loss for words. I could see a couple tears start to run down her cheeks and, taking notice of this, Jacky wiped them away. I admire his caring nature.
“It’s gonna be okay, love.” he tried to comfort her,. It didn’t seem to work, though, as she cried a little more. I went to help untie her and she flinched, probably out of fear. “It’s okay. He’s not gonna hurt you. I know he won’t.”
“Are you sure?” Emily asked, her voice a little shaky from her fearful crying.
“Of course.” Jacky smiled at her. He and I untied the ropes around Emily’s chest that bound her arms to her torso. Jacky couldn’t get the knot undone from the rope wrapped around her legs, but I was able to rip it apart, almost effortlessly. She hugged Jacky tight, making me smile a bit. I’m glad he has someone who cares so much about him, it makes me feel better that he’s had her to keep him safe. It’s such a shame that we couldn’t get to her sooner.
“Thank you,” She cried into his shoulder. “and thank you, too.” As she looked up at me, I felt an almost warm feeling rush it’s way through my body. After being a cold-hearted asshole throughout my entire life, it was quite an unusual, yet welcome feeling.
“Jacky.” A familiar voice called from behind. Great. No doubt it’s that ‘Ronnie’ guy. I turned around and, sure enough, it was him. Though he wasn’t alone this time. There was another angel next to him. This one had short hair and blue eyes. He had wings, and they matched the blackness of his hair. Was he also an outcast?
