| Ep. 6 |The afternoon sunlight covered the city. Miho made his way through the streets with his canary chirping a random tune on top of his head. He was searching for the shop his mom was rather fond of
Since she had brought his pet slash friend bird here in Seoul, the least thing he could do for her was show his gratitude [even though he knew that his mom would say that it was all alright and that he didn't need to go through such troubles].
After all, seeing little Daniel's mom work so hard for her son struck him with realization. Even though Miho's mom has a different job, Michiro worked hard for her twins and sacrificed even her health just so she could five everything the twins wanted.
Once, Hiro asked their mom about her side of the family when she responded with such a lonely and solemn voice, "I'm an orphan, you see, but a kind man helped me. He used to be a close friend of my mother and when he got wind of my situation, he flew all they from his country to where I was. You guys haven't met him yet because he's too busy nowadays. But don't worry, I'll make sure to show him my pride and joy; you and Miho."
A tap to his shoulder snapped him out of his trip down his memory lane. A certain blond seatmate of his stood behind him, his overall appearance rougher than usual and the stench of cigarette smoke waffed through his nostrils.
"Blegh Jay, have you been smoking?" Red eyes caught the minute flinch of his figure and the subtle way Jay averted Miho's intense gaze made Miho frown. "Smoking is dangerous for your health," he reprimanded the much taller boy with a voice that made it seem like he was a mother scolding her child.
"Most girls- if you don't happen to know- dislike guys who smoke. Some girls think it's such a badass-thing for a guy to do but the only thing you're doing right now is risking your health. Don't you think it's such a sad way of living your life? I prefer to die of old age rather than from illness, thank you very much."
Heavy tension filled the silence between them after that. Jay did not know how he should respond to that kind of scolding whereas Miho inwardly panicked. The albino thought that Jay would come to hate him for scolding him like a little child.
Snow-white fingers fiddled with each other in anxiety as he waited for Jay to, at least, do something instead of staying silent after Miho spoke to him.
His ears perked up when he heard a rustling and a crunching noise. When he glanced up, he saw a packet of crushed cigarettes in Jay's hand and he watched him throw it away to a nearby dumpster just in the alley a few feet away from them.
A hand reached out to grab a lock of white curly hair and fiddled with it like it was some kind of toy. A comforting smile graced the blond's lips, making Miho brighten at the sight of it. Jay's message seemed to reach Miho when the shorter boy suddenly grabbed Jay's hand.
"Would you like to come with me? I'm looking for Historia so I could buy something for my mom." In Jay's perspective, Miho remained as an enigma. He knew things about him because he chose to remain silent and just observed.
He noticed things about Miho that most others would not. Jay did not dwell on those thoughts any further. Instead, he chose to go with Miho. He tightened the hand that was holding Miho's, and he watched through his bangs how the shorter teen's face brightened.
