Puzzle of the Heart

You were always right beside me

Keeping me up at my worst

Subtly but obviously

I was oblivious to it...

I couldn't see that I wasn't alone

That on my darkest days

You were my brightest knight.

My heart all a flutter

And my face filled with glee

With thoughts of your love

That can only be described as a dream.

I've been hurt so many times

I believed

And have been deceived

Given my all

And have had it taken away

With nothing for me to gain

But a stitch in my heart

And a smile that's fading

For this love that is only a maybe.
