Well thank you for clicking on my story! So I just wanted to say that none of these are characters created by me. This is just a fanfiction. A Destiel fanfiction. Enjoy!
I always thought that meeting my soul mate would be significant; that there would be fireworks or a beautiful sunset or something to let me know that it was happening. Sparks flying, electricity, something to give me a hint. I thought that I would meet them at a 4th of July party or a wedding or some other get together. Or that I would meet them in my favorite record store or in the heart of my favorite city, something romantic like that. But no, the way I met my soul mate was utterly unexpected and to be honest, the whole meeting was just rude. Not my type. Not at first, at least.
Late summer, 2014, right before my freshmen year of college. I didn't want to go to college at all. I wanted to stay at home with my family and friends. I didn't want to start new. But I needed a new start. I needed independence and my friends got old. Of course I didn't want to move three states over to a university that I didn't even like. That would involve leaving everybody I love. I knew I had to, though.
"Castiel? Cassie, wake up. You have to catch your flight," my brother said to me on the morning of.
"Mmmhhrrph," was all I could get out of my mouth. I didn't want to miss my flight. I had to get up. So I did. The clock read 5:30 AM. My flight was later tonight, but Gabriel, my brother, wanted me to get up extra early, 1. because we had to drive two hours to get to the airport because our town is so damn tiny, and 2. he wanted to spend another few hours with me in the city before I left.
I threw off the covers and got up out of my squeaky twin bed to go take a shower. In the shower, I totally forgot I was there, so I accidentally stayed in there for a lot longer than Gabe wanted me to.
"CASSIE! You know I have to drive you to the airport! I gotta look sharp too. Hurry up!"
"...Sorry!" I dropped the shampoo bottle on my foot while trying to put it back on the shelf. "Goddamn it," I whisper-yelled.
Of course I got soap in my eyes, that's a total Castiel move. God, I was a total klutz.
I finally got out of the shower a few minutes later and grabbed my towel off the rack. My dark hair was dripping the cold water all over me. That is and always will be my pet peeve: wet hair. Gross.
I didn't feel like wearing anything special that day. I mean, really, what was the occasion? But Gabe wouldn't let me leave the house in just sweatpants and a sweatshirt, so I threw on a white button-down and some black jeans. Also, to touch it up, I chose my famous black converse.
And of course, my tan trench coat. Can't forget that.
After I inhaled my hardy breakfast of eggs and bacon made by my sister, Anna, I ran back upstairs to brush my teeth and grab my two bags of stuff for college. I really didn't have that many belongings.
"Cassie, are you ready yet?" Anna yelled up the stairs.
"I'm coming!" And then I appeared at the top of the stairs, ready for college, but so not ready.
When I reached the bottom of the staircase, Anna gave me a big bear hug. Her hugs were nice. Tight, warm. Her red hair smelled like apples.
"Goodbye, Cassie," she said. I could hear the sob stuck in her throat.
"This isn't goodbye, Anna. It's not like I'm never going to see you again. This isn't goodbye, this is just 'see you during Christmas break,'" I explained.
She took a minute to reply. "That's why I'll miss you," she started. "You take everything so seriously."
I kissed the top of her head and patted her cheeks with my hands. "I'll miss you, Anna."
