"You know, Nat, when you said hey let's have a girls day out, I was thinking shopping or going to a spa, this is not what I had imagined." You sighed pulling against the ropes that had bound you to the chair, blowing a loose strand of hair out over your face.
"You'd think you could of seen that with your second sight." She snarked back from behind you, rolling your eyes at her response.
Your arms were secured tightly behind the chair, stuffed inside a burlap bag, whoever these people were, they had done their homework. The abandon warehouse was void of anything that would give you a hint as to who or to what was going on. You toed at the heel of you sneaker, trying to pull your foot free of its confines. Trying to make contact with anything.
"So, speaking of second sighting, getting anything yet?" Natasha asked, you kicked the sneaker off, taking a deep breath. Grumbling under your breath as you did so.
"That's not how it works, I have to physically touch something. Skin contact you know that." You snip back, stomping down on the toe of your sock, pulling your foot free.
You touched the sole of your foot down on the dirty cement floor, feeling the familiar pull of the sight. Feelings start swirling in your head, sounds of machinery, voices from past shouting. As with the sight, it was pulling you to the past, you focused on this moment in the timeline and then pushed it forward. Much like fast forwarding a movie, except, this time it was different.Flames licked up the walls, the room unbearably hot, sweat dripping from your body. Natasha's hollowed screams raising above the roar of the fire around you. Your heart rate in double time as smoke filled your lungs, you tried to repress the urge to cough.
Columns of thick black smoke curled a cross the ceiling, a bean snapped somewhere, the sequel of metal twisting before it crashed to the floor. A figure, appeared through the orange glow, walking steadily toward you. Completely blackened, a stark contrast to the scene in front of your eyes. His frame a wraith in the scorching inferno.
"Cousin, did you think I've forgotten about you?" He said. You woke with start, sweat pooling around you as you flung yourself up in bed. You body felt incredibly hot as your entire body shook, from head to toe. You sprang from the bed, rushing into the a joining bathroom. You flicked on the light, your entire body was crimson, and heat poured off of you. You chest heaving as you stared at your reflection.
"Doll?" Bucky's voice rose as you turned the shower on full blast, jumping under the cold spray, still dressed in your pjs. Water cascaded around you, spraying the walls and outside the bathtub. You hissed as the water stung your skin, steam started to roll off your body.
Bucky walked to the open door, his eyes landed on you, he quickly rushed to the shower once he saw how red you were. His hand touched your arm, pain exploding a cross the sensitive skin on contact. You cried out as you pulled your arm from him, your eyes open wide with shock.
"F.R.I.D.A.Y., read me her vitals." Bucky demanded, wanting nothing more than to take you in his arms. Fear coursed through his body, unsure of what to do to help you in this state.
"Y/n's heart rate is irregular, blood pressure is 150/90 and her temp is 120. Should I alert medical a head of your arrival?" The AI responded, you closed your eyes shut tightly trying will away the pain. That's the only thing you seemed to be able to focus on was the searing pain as the steady stream from the shower beat down on you.
"Yes!" He yelled, still watching you as you pressed your palm against the shower wall for stability. Your chest heaving with each ragged breath you took. "Doll, I need to get you down to medical."
"Everything hurts, James." You whined, tears being washed away as the cold water beat down on you. Every was so hot, your skin felt like you had been stuffed into an oven.
"I know sweetheart, but we have to get you there. Can you walk?" He asked, you shook your head pressing your lips together.
"I'm sorry." He whispered, reaching in, his body getting soaked, as he lifted you from under the spray. You screamed as the pain intensified, he pulled you out from under the shower. He rushed through his room, kicking the door open in one solid kick. You had passed out by the time he arrived in the medical wing, your body color had lighten to a dull pink as your limp form laid on the hospital bed. Bucky bit his knuckle as he watched the monitors. Your vitals had returned to normal half an hour ago except your temperature was running dangerously high, at 104. When you came in, the doctors were confused, your core body temperature was elevated to 104 but your skin temperature read 119,
"What happened?" Steve asked, standing in the doorway.
"I have no clue." Bucky replied, he took a deep breath before looking over at him. "She jumped out of the bed, and rushed to the bedroom. I just thought she had to throw up, you know, but she was in the shower, looking like a burn victim."
"Is everything alright now?"
"Her vitals came back down shortly after I got her here, her temp is still up." Bucky could hear his voice wavering, trying to keep himself from crying. "And she hasn't come too, doc says that that's fine but..."
"And the baby?" He asked, Bucky looked back to you.
"Baby's fine they say. I don't know how but the baby's vitals are all within normal range." He replied.
