It had been over two weeks since you had made it back and the blow up with Bucky. You had given him space hoping he would calm down and come back, but that hadn't happened. He was avoiding you, keeping any conversations between the two you to a minimum. It hurt, having him pull away from you. You flipped your phone looking at photos of the two of you, sitting on your bed, wondering if the two of you still had a future together.
"Y/n?" Steve's soft voice called out as he gently pushed the door open.
"Yeah, I'm in here." You sighed, shutting the screen off and tossing the phone on your nightstand.
"How ya doing today?" He asked, crossing the room and sitting on the edge of the bed.
"I thought I was lucky cause I hadn't had any morning sickness, boy was I wrong." You replied, shifting to pull your knees to your chest the best you could.
"Besides physically. How you holding up?" He asked, blue eyes trained on you. You bit your bottom lip and shrugged, afraid if you spoke that you break down again. That was the last thing you wanted to do, start crying again. "Have you tried to talk to him?"
"Steve.." you took a deep breath, looking down at the solitary ring on your finger, turning it. "He doesn't want to talk to me, he can't even look at me."
"You need to try, he won't come to you. You and I both know that, he's closing himself off to everyone again." He told you, slowly you raised your eyes to meet his.
"What if.. this isn't what he wants anymore?" You chocked out, trying to repress the sob that threaten to break through.
"Which is harder wondering what if, while any chance you do have slowly fades away or biting the bullet and talking to him?" Steve said, patting your knee as he stood. "He still loves you, I've seen the way he looks at you when you leave the room."
You nodded your reply as he walked out of your room leaving you alone. You knew he had a point, it would be better to get this over with. So you slipped on your shoes, and walked out of your room. You wandered over to his old room, the door slightly open, taking a deep breath you walked in.
You were prepared for him to yell at you to leave, for him to shove you out and slam the door. You froze in your spot, mouth slightly a gape as your eyes widen. What you hadn't expected was to see him shirtless, his hand resting on someone else's hip, her head tilted up looking at him, blonde hair cascading down to her shoulders. You hadn't expected to see him that close to another woman.
Bucky's head snapped over to the door, eyes widening just as he saw you bolt from your spot. Tears welling up as you rushed down the hall, trying to put as much distance between the two of you as possible. You hit the elevator, doors just beginning to roll closed, sliding in at the last second to turn and see Bucky coming down the hall behind you.
   "Y/n!" He yelled.
You stared at your reflection in the smooth metal doors, your breath coming out hard and stressed. You hit the button for the gym, wanting to find Steve, needing to find him. The images of how close him and the blonde had been was seared into you head. The look in her eyes as she stared up at him, his hand resting on her hip. Tears closely trailed down you cheek, as you watched the number for the gym floor roll up into view.
You took a deep breath, readying yourself to sprint. Panic and fear taking hold, taking over any rational thought you might of had. You had seen Bucky was running after you, and you knew he would take the stairs. You didn't want to hear any of his excuses at the moment, you knew what you had seen. And as the doors rolled open, you slid out, not waiting for them to open completely. Your feet rushing down the hall as fast as they would take you, the door to the stairs slamming open behind you.
When you hit the doors to the training room Steve jumped in spot, and you spun suddenly, slamming the door closed and throwing the lock. You fell to your knees, fists balling up, pressing them to your eyes. He immediately rushed over kneeling down next to you as something slammed against the door.
"What's going on?" He asked, looking up as the door shook again.
You grabbed his exposed forearm, and replayed the the last ten minutes for him, allowing him to see and feel what you had just went through. His eyes narrowing at the door as it again shook, the wood starting to splinter. He stood to his full height stepping around you, he crossed his arms and waited, knowing it would only one more slam for the door to break open.
Bucky slammed into the door, his body lurching through it as he caught his balance, his eyes landing on Steve before shifting to were you sat on the floor tears streaming down your face. He was still shirtless, scratches from the broken door already starting to welt. He went to take a step in further but Steve blocked him, his face stern as he glared at his friend.
"Steve let me past." Bucky growled, eyes snapping back up to the other super soldier.
"I think you need to leave, Bucky." He said crisply, staring down the other man.
"And I told you to stay out of this, Rogers, if you'll excuse me I need to talk to my fiancé." He snapped back, Steve straighten further, his eyes narrowing at Bucky.
You knew if you didn't do something soon it would just escalate further. Judging by Steve's clenched jaw you knew he wasn't about to back down, you had seen the look before, it was the same one he got before every fight. You could also hear the ticking and clicking of Bucky's arm and you wouldn't put it past him to forcefully move Steve out of his way. You stood to your feet behind Steve and took a deep breath.
"Fine, let's get this over with." You stated, walking around the super soldiers, passing Bucky without so much of a glance though you could feel his stare focused on you now.
You stepped out into the hall, crossing your arms as Bucky followed you out shutting what was left of the door behind him. You spun to face him, and the pain of seeing him earlier quickly turned to anger.
"James, what you want?" You asked, trying to keep your voice level.
"About what you saw.." you cut him off holding your hand up.
"That's not what I'm asking right now." Your eyes meeting his, his brows furrowing a bit. "This." You gestured between the two of you. "Here between us, what do you want, to be with me or not cause right now I don't know what's going on between us. You won't even look at me, you haven't said more the a few hellos since we got back. And I need to know, the sooner the better."
"Doll, of course I want to be with you, I love you more then life itself. It's just.." he trailed off taking a few steps down the hall, running his hand through his hand. Slowly he turned to face you, pain was etched through his face. "I saw it.. the vision you had when you touched my arm in the shack, I saw the fear on your face. I didn't remember that night, the fact Hydra used me to kill children. And it scared the hell out me."
"Is that why you won't look at me?" You asked, taking a step towards him, Bucky backed up slightly, making you stop.
"I keep seeing that fear. And then with every thing else going on, with Aidan, Isaiah, and the fires, I panicked. I'm so scared of something happening to you and the baby, I don't know what I would do if something happened." He sighed heavily, looking down at the floor. "And then Nat stopped by to try and get me to talk to you, that's when you walked in."
"Hang on, that was Nat?" You questioned, which earned you a soft chuckle.
"Yes, she's going under cover again." He replied, this time he was the one to step toward you, closing the distance.
"Why were you shirtless and your hand on her hip?" You asked, feeling your heart flutter as he had closed the distance, bodies almost touching but not quite.
"I had just got done with a run and was going to shower when she stopped by, and I tripped cause I was taking my shoes off." He smirked pointing down at his feet and true to his word one shoe was one the other was just in a grey sock.
"Oh." You exclaimed quietly, feeling your cheeks burn with embarrassment.
"Sweetheart I would never do that to you, okay? There ain't another woman in the world that can hold a candle to you." He told you, wrapping his arms around your shoulders, placing a tender kiss on your temple.
