You reached for the remote as your entire body to tremble, your mouth went slack as you turned it up. Scenes from burned out wreckage played before you, it had to have been a coincidence. But Gran's voice in the back of your head told there was no such things as coincidences, just signs.
"Doll?" Bucky's hand on your shoulder caused you jump. You lifted your head to look up at him, his eyes on the tv. "That's the building you saw, isn't it?"
"I never saw the outside, but.... Where's Nat?" You jumped from the couch, dread forming in the pit of your stomach. It was mid-day, she should be down in the training room. You bolted down the hall, Bucky's heavy steps behind you.
"Y/n, slow down!" He yelled as you hit the stairs, elevator would take to long. You raced down the stairs as you heard the door bounce open again behind you.
You slammed into the door on the next level, running at full stride towards the training room. Your heart was in your throat as thoughts of her blood curtling scream echoed again in your memory, tears starting to form.
You could hear Bucky close on you heals as you flung open the door. Your eyes scanned the room, panic coursing through you like a runaway freight train. Your eyes landed on the red head, you marched up to her and wrapped your arms around the confused woman. Her body ridged in your embrace.
"Uh, can I help you?" She asked, looking over your shoulder at an angry Bucky.
"Y/n, the doctors told you to take easy, this is the exact opposite of easy." His words crisp behind you.
"Your okay." You breathed finally releasing her.
"Of course I am." She stated, perplexed by your statement. "Why wouldn't I be?"
"If your not going to go back upstairs and take it easy, could you at least sit down?" Bucky asked behind you, and as before you ignored him.
"I had a dream, you burned to death in a warehouse and well, one burned down and it had bodies in it." You explained, feeling a slow tear roll down your cheek.
"Look I get your concern but it was a dream and your powers don't work that way, at least to my understanding." She replied, looking back at Bucky and then to you.
"I know but, still, I had to see for myself." You smiled at her, as another tear rolled down, the thought of loosing her, you didn't want to think about it.
Suddenly you were spun around by a firm on you shoulder. Bucky's stern face greeted you, his eyes clouded over.
"You done racing around?" He demanded, staring at you hard.
"Buck, thought you were taking today off?" Steve's voice rose behind him, then he caught sight of you. "Okay, what'd I miss? Thought she was supposed to take the next couple of days easy."
"She is." Those two words were as cold as ice as his eyes never left you.
"Then both you out of my training room, we have class for the new recruits." Steve told you both, turning to walk away.
"Are you done?" Bucky asked raising both his brows.
"Yes." You replied meekly, glancing back at Natasha repressing a smile.
You followed Bucky back up to the common room, using the elevator at his request. You returned to your spot on the the couch, curled up against the arm rest. Any fatigue you had earlier was gone, your mind still dealing about the fire at the warehouse. Two bodies.
"James." You said sweetly as he laid his head in your lap, an attempt to keep you in place.
"What ever your thinking, no." He said, flipping on an I love Lucy rerun.
"You don't even know what I was going to say." You replied looking down at him, he turned his face to look up you.
"You weren't going to say anything, you were going to ask me something." He replied, reaching up with his hand, gently cupping your cheek. "And knowing you, it was going to be about going to that warehouse."
"But..." he was right, that's where you wanted to go, where you needed to go.
"No buts.. the doc said take it easy. You can't be running around half cocked like you normally do, nobody knows exactly why you had the episode earlier much less how it was possible. Plus you gotta remember its not just you you have to worry about."
"I know." You sighed, looking over at the tv. You hated it when he was right. "It's just.."
"I know, doll, it's got you all riled up. And your just itching to figure it all out. Just a couple days that's all I'm asking." He spoke softly, glancing down you saw the pleading look in those twin blues of his.
"Couple days?" You groaned, you didn't want to wait that long.
"I could tell you a week, which is what the doc said, remember." He reminded you, you glared up at the tv.
"Fine." You responded quickly, not bothering to look back down at him.
You knew that there was no point in arguing, once he had his mind set there would no reasoning with him. You loved him dearly, but sometimes his stubborn nature drove you bonkers. You slipped your fingers in his hair, running your nails a cross his scalp as the show continued to play. Bucky's attention focused on the screen, just like you knew how stubborn he could be, you also knew how to put your fiancé to sleep.
It only took a couple of minutes, and you heard his breathing even out. His eyes closed, you felt how relaxed his body was. Now came the tricky part, slipping out from under his head. It took a bit, but you managed to roll the throw blanket up and slipping it in place of your lap.
It didn't take long to find Tony's lab, Welcome To My Nightmare blaring down the hall. You took a deep breath as you opened the door, knowing your ass was going to be in so much trouble later for this.
