while donghyuck devoured his pancakes drenched with maple syrup, mark felt nauseous in his stomach.

"so, tell me. i bought you breakfast," mark stated pointing towards the mess.

"well. how do i put it? i fell out of love with you first. i felt guilty so the first thing that came to me was moving away," donghyuck said while chewing with his mouth wide open.

"are you actually serious?"

"no, i was going to say that my mum came back to life," donghyuck rolled his eyes.

"what else could i have said when you confessed your love for me seconds before?"

mark opened his mouth but nothing came to mind.

"so, i am sorry for lying but you can't change the fact you used me for your inspiration all the time."

"i am studying maths now. maths is a universal language," mark smiled to himself thinking about all the equations he had to do later.

"nerd," donghyuck coughed loudly.

"music is one too," donghyuck said quietly.

mark was taken aback. he didn't expect him to take an interest in music.

"instrument?"

"my god given ability to sing."

and so the two chatted for hours in the quiet cafe just like the old times,

except they were more mature this time.

but, it wasn't enough to bring them back to being friends, more like acquaintances.

they were rekindling like a fire brought back to life.
