Last Time

As always. I woke up at noon. Nothing new. I felt dead, but I guess I deserve that. I got up and walked to the bathroom. My eyes bright red and watery. I took a shower, hopping to wash away this terrible feeling. Didn't really work. Eh.

I dried my hair, dug in Mathews closet looking for a button down shirt. I didn't bother putting on anything else. Skipping downstairs I flashed Derek. Poor guy.

"Where's Matt?" I jumped on the kitchen counter and started swinging my legs.

"Mr. Walsh had to go take care of a few things before tonights event." Derek answered coughing.

"Oh yea.. huh." I dropped from the counter and reached for the wine drawer.

"No drinking. My research shows that you have good manners, Miss Hunt. Please act like it today." He stopped me, closing the drawer.

"Research? Not creepy at all." I looked at him feeling insecure.

"Since Mr. Walsh let you in his house and he trusts you, it doesn't mean I do. I know who you are and I'm not gonna let you go out of my sight."

"What do you know?" I bit my lip.

"A lot, V. I'd say Mr. Walsh should know about this too. Tell him or I will."

Part of me wanted to threaten Derek.

"He doesn't need to know. I'm not here for that. I haven't done that in years."

"Even if you're not here for that, please understand me being cautious and stop lying to his face."

"Fair enough." I shrugged.

"The dress for tonight is hanging in the living room. Get ready by 17:30 please." Well Derek is grumpy today. Didn't expect this at all.

I listened to him, didn't drink, didn't do any crazy shit. Didn't really feel like it either. Just watched TV till the evening. Mathew didn't come back. I did my make up, put on the dress and the 15 cm heels. It's a blood red gown, with long sheer rose patterned sleeves. I'm in love with it. It's gorgeous. And it has pockets! This shiny tight silver necklace might be too much for me, but I guess that's what Matt wants.

Last week I was pouring Daiquiries for rich ladies, now I am those rich ladies. Just like ten times better than them.

I hate my life, but my life is great. It's confusing, right?

Around an hour passed. I spent it looking at myself in the mirror, spinning around, playing with my gown, untill Derek called for me.

"Time to go, Miss." He extended his hand for me while I was walking down the stairs.

I didn't take it. I'm perfectly fine walking in heels this high. I've done it one too many times. Dare I say I'm a pro?

"Is Mr.Walsh not joining me today?" I said with sarcasm in my voice.

"Mr. Walsh will meet you there. Don't worry."

How big is this event? We arrived at a full on fucking ball room. Fancy dressed people everywhere. I feel out of place, but I look like I fit in.

Derek told me to head inside, he's following me.

"Are you not gonna leave my side?" I stopped and turned around.

"That is what I'm told to do, Miss." God damn it...

"Can I have a glass?" I'll need more than one to survive this.
