It was after the evening meal, the day before the students were due to arrive for the start of a new school year at Hogwarts. The resident professors were relaxing with their after dinner coffee when an owl swooped down and landed on the back of Headmistress McGonagall's chair. Minerva held out her hand and silently accepted an owl treat from Hagrid. She reached up over her shoulder and took hold of the envelope in exchange for the offered treat. Hooting happily, the owl took off and winged it way toward the owlery. Looking at the front address, her eyebrow shot up, than a smile appeared on her face.
"It seems we've been invited to some special event; all of our names are here." She showed the front of the envelope to her tablemates, who looked at each other and then back at Minerva.
"Well, don't keep us in suspense . . . open it." Poppy chided, drawing nods from the others.
"Certainly . . . ." Minerva flipped the envelope over, broke the seal and pulled out the contents, scanning them quickly.
"For Merlin sake, read it out loud, please!" Pomona Sprout fussed.
"Oh! Of course . . . " Minerva looked over her glasses at the Herbology teacher, with a small smile on her face. "We've all been invited to the wedding of Astoria Greengrass and Draco Malfoy, on 11 October."
"Oh, splendid!" Filius Flitwick clapped. " I knew those two would tie the knot eventually!"
"As did I, Filius . . . said so the last time Mr. Malfoy was here visiting you Hagrid." sniffed Professor Trelawney. "Didn't I say just that?"
