—when we met—
(You're both 16)

Me and my friends were sitting outside at a table during lunch. They were having a conversation about what they were gonna do during spring break, but I wasn't listening. I got distracted. I was starting at someone from afar. He was sitting all alone on a stone ledge by the outside stairs. He was looking down at something. All I could see was his back side. Along with his half ginger half black hair. I'd seen him around before. About a month ago his hair was all black. But everyone knew he was a ginger. I didn't know why he tried to hide it. I liked his ginger hair. And for some reason I'd always wanted to talk to him. So I had finally built up my courage.

I stood up. "I'll be right back, or not, I don't know" I muttered to one of my friends that was sitting next to me. And I started walking over. I was a little nervous. I didn't know if he was mean or nice, I mean he seemed harmless.

"Hi" I said, sorta startling him. He was drawing. He briefly lookd at me and said,"Oh...hi" then goes back to drawing. You stay silent for a second. "Soo. Whatcha drawing?" I asked, trying to start a conversation. "Just a random sketch" he said. I sat down next to him and took a look at his paper. He was actually really good. "I like it. It's good" I said with a little smile. Causing him to smile. Though I was looking at his drawing I could tell he was looking at me. I turned my head to look at him and he turned to look at the paper. His face had a shade of pink. Was he blushing? Oh god. Now I'm blushing. I tried to hide my smile. We continued talking for the rest of the lunch period. I learned more about him. He loved music. He made his own music actually. I asked if I could hear some, so he told about his bandcamp website and YouTube channel. So I planned to do that straight away later. He also had a chameleon named Casper. Which I freaked out about because I had always wanted one. He chuckled and said I could meet him sometime. I liked seeing him laugh. It was cute. I could tell we were gonna be good friends.

It was the last day of school and we had just got out. We went walking across the field together to get home. This was the usual. Except some days he had to switch between going to his mums house and his dads house. His parents were divorced. He had told me about this just a couple months ago. Which I understand is something you wouldn't want to talk about.

There were small yellow flowers everywhere on the field and the grass was pretty tall today. We were pretty silent. So I snuck up behind him, dropped my backpack, and tackled him to the ground. "What're you doing?" He chuckled. We both started laughing. We calmed down and I let go of him. Now we were just in the middle of the field laying in the tall grass staring at the cloudy sky. Being there it felt like we were alone. Like it was just us two in the world.

From the corner of my eye I saw him looking at me. My heart started pick up speed. And I didn't know why. He props up on one arm still looking at me. But this time when I went to look at him as well, he didn't look away. Our eyes locked for a few seconds. And then his eyes wandered around my face. Until he stopped at my lips. I felt like my heart stopped completely. We were only about half a foot away from from each other. He very slowly started to lean in. Too slowly. Almost unsure, he paused. Then he quickly went for it, and our lips smashed together. It was kind of a tense kiss. I'd never kissed anyone before. And the fact that it was my best friend...I didn't know what to think. It was short. He pulled away and said, "I'm sorry. I-I shouldn't have done that" really quickly, then stood up and grabbed his backpack. I sat up and just watched him walk away.

And that's the last time you guys spoke...                 or so you thought
