Mercy's POV
"You are not wearing that."
Delilah had come over to help me with my make up because apparently she needed more material for her YouTube videos. Did I mention that Dee was a successful beauty guru? She has her own merch and even wrote a how-to guide for make-up beginners. She wasn't filming or anything but she was hoping for some inspiration to hit.
It was nearly six and I had to get going or I'd be late to the party. I don't expect much from it but I am not passing up free food and wine.
"I just need you to help me with my make-up, please," I beg. I was wearing an olive green blouse and a mid-thigh, skirt paired with ankle boots. I thought I looked good.
"I look fine," I tell her after she makes her way to my luggage and starts sorting through my clothes.
"Girl, that's the outfit you'd wear if you were looking to get laid at a club."
" Um, ouch!?"
"I mean you look sexy but you are going to be with your colleagues. Dress for the occasion," she says pulling out a cream-colored, wrap dress with a plunging neckline and a black belt to define the waist.
"And what if I wanted to get laid, huh? Would that be so bad?"
"Oh hunny, are you at the rebound stage already?" she says throwing the dress at me without looking. She is already in search of shoes and a purse.
"Erica would have agreed with my outfit," I mumble.
"Well you called me not Erica, so too bad," she retorts. Oops, she heard.
I finished dressing in less than a minute and Delilah came back with a pair of black stilettos and my black Kate Spade handbag. She tosses them on the bed and orders me to sit. Yes ma'am.
"You can never go wrong with a smoky look. If done correctly, it looks very elegant. If not, it can look like you are trying too hard," she tells me as she applies the last bit of her "Diva" lipstick by MAC on me. "Perfect," she sings.
"How do I look then," I ask after switching shoes and filling my bag with all the necessary items.
"You need an accessory."
"What about a necklace?"
"No," she dismisses my suggestion with a wave of her hand. "You don't need anymore attention to your chest. I was thinking a bracelet to match your rose gold earrings."
"I have a gold watch somewhere in this...nest," I say looking around at the mess I'd made in Erica's room. I had boxes piled on top of boxes and luggage everywhere.
"That'll do." She goes on to search for it and hands it over to me.
"Now you're good to go," she says pushing me out the bedroom door and out to the living room where Tyler was sitting on the couch sipping my jamaica and watching a movie.
"Jeeze, I thought I was gonna have to marathon all the Harry Potter movies before you girls came out."
"We only took...less than an hour and a half," I say after looking at my watch. Whoops?
"One hour and twenty-six minutes to be exa-- Oww!"
"Dee! Why are you always hitting me?" He hisses, rubbing his arm.
"Compliment your date, Ty. Its the most basic of basics," she scolds.
I place my hands on my hips as he squints, eyeing me up and down.
"But it's just Mercy," he says pointing at me.
*smack* *smack*
"Oww, I'm kidding! What do you want me to say? Mercy you're a fine piece of ass but you already knew that. You did take a damn hour and a half in that room."
