Liam's POV

"Okay, let's talk." Ms. Reyes says as she faces me with her hands on her hips and her hair dripping wet. She probably didn't know the shortcut to the parking lot and cut through the grass. Clearly, it wasn't a great idea but she doesn't seem to care one bit.

"Lets," I nod my head and offer her my arm. She looks taken aback at first, but recovers in less than a second and takes my arm.

"I don't think we should speak out in the open. Do you mind if we go to an office in the main building?"

"Of course not, lead the way."

We remained quiet most of the way. It gave me a chance to study her a bit. She's beautiful. I'd realized it before but I'm only paying attention now. Her tanned skin compliments her lively personality and her curly locks seem to have a mind of their own. They were long and voluminous but because they're wet, they were flat and frizzing up at the top. However, it was her eyes that captivated me the most. They were full of life and confidence.

A slight breeze ruffles her hair and a little chill ran down her spine. It wasn't a chilly night. In fact, it was perfect. But she's soaked so I stop and hand her my jacket.

"I'm really ok. I'll dry off in a bit." She shakes her head.

"Don't refuse and take the jacket. Getting you sick is not the way I want to thank you," I frown placing the jacket over her shoulders despite her initial protest. We continue walking and reach our destination.

"If I get sick, it'd hardly be your fault. But thank you for the jacket," she says peering up at me with a small smile.

Something inside me shook just enough to grab my attention.

I blink and nod my head as I open the door to the principal's office and gesture for her to step inside.

I close the door behind me and she stands in the middle, shifting from foot to foot, not really knowing what to do. She goes on to study the room, pacing with her hands behind her back. She takes a moment to view the certificates behind the principals desk, meanwhile I take in her plump lips, the slender curve of her neck and the swell of her hips.

"So, um, how you been?" She breaks the silence and turns to face me. I shifted my eyes to her face right on time.

Crap, she almost caught me staring. That would have been embarrassing.

"I've been doing fine, Ms. Reyes. Thank you for your concern." I pull back a chair for her to sit and take the seat next to hers, shifting it so I can face her. Instead of sitting on the principals chair and having the large desk in between, I'd rather talk close, like this.

"How, are you?" I ask leaning back and lifting my foot to rest over my other leg.

"I'm fine too, thank you for asking."
She says crossing her own legs, accentuating her figure.

That you are.

Damnit, Liam, get your mind out of the gutter. You are here to discuss important business not to check her out.

I clear my throat, embarrassed that I'd have such a thought toward one of my uncle's employee's.

"Mercedes-- may I call you that?" I proceed when she nods her head. "How do you feel about going before a judge?"

I watch her carefully but she stares back at me with a blank expression. She's not letting me see what she's thinking and it's going to drive me nuts.

"Just the same as anyone else, I guess. What are you really trying to ask me, Mr. Walker."

There will be no beating around the bush with her. She's actually eyeing me carefully.
