Chapter 5

Who did they think they were locking me in this cell like this? I glared at Rosemary who was trying to spoon feed me some mashed potatoes and gravy. Yes, I was starving, but the headache that was driving me crazy and the anger that was building up inside me and making it worse was consuming me and I couldn't think straight. Poor, timid little Rosemary had to be the one to deal with me.

It had been two weeks so far that Mara had me locked in here, but not in the same cell I had first woken up in. No, that was pleasant compared to this one. In this cell, I was stuck in a sitting position with my hands chained to the wall, so that was why I had to be fed like a child who was incapable of doing things for herself. My body shook with rage.

"P-please, please eat." Rosemary begged me as I turned my face away from the spoon. "You will starve to death. You haven't eaten in two days and Madam Marana beat me for each meal you did not eat."

"She beat you?!" I raged, snapping my head back to face her causing her to jump back from me. She honestly looked very frightened of me and had a regretful look on her face as if she wished she hadn't told me anything.

"P-please miss..." Rosemary stuttered, stepping back from me with wide eyes as I thrashed my arms around angrily, rattling the chains around my hands that were bolted to the wall. "Please don't hurt me. I'm only doing what I was ordered to do."

I stopped when I saw the scared look in her eyes and it hurt me. I hung my head and sighed heavily. What had I done to deserve such a misfortune? I'd give anything to wake up from this nightmare. If Mara was going to kill me, why didn't she just do it now and get it over with?

'But what about Angel?' a thought popped up in my head immediately and guilt washed over me as a tear fell down my face.

"Aaaah, giving the servants trouble again?" Seth suddenly appeared next to Rosemary, wearing blue denim jeans and a white and blue button-up shirt with sneakers, smoking a cigarette. He smirked and blew smoke into my face, making me scrunch my nose up at the horrible smell.

How could people smoke that disgusting stuff? Like seriously, did he not know what that stuff did to your lungs? Well, if he got cancer in the future, he deserved it. I hoped he would lose all his fingers and toes.

"What do you want?" I snarled, throwing him my best death glare.

He nodded for Rosemary to leave and she quickly gathered the tray of food and shuffled out of the room looking relieved to get away from me. He took another pull and blew the smoke out through his nose, staring at me with that smirk still plastered on his face. "Mother thinks you have learned your lesson and you seem to be getting rather thin. She wishes to see you."

I let out a grunt and turned my face from him. I didn't even know I could grunt. I had been changing a lot lately and I just couldn't understand my body. I felt more weak and tired and hungry. I half wished that Rosemary would have left the food for me even if it would have gotten cold and I would have had to eat it without my hands like a dog.

"Oh, come now. Don't be like that." Seth said, tossing the cigarette butt and lifting my face towards his, so he could look me in my eyes. He studied my face for a second before smiling. "Besides, Mother has a surprise for you. She would love to see how much you have changed."
