Names and Baby Showers

The couples returned from their week long vacation. They felt well rested and they really enjoyed their time with bonding with each other like old times, and having alone time with their spouse. After returning home, Maki went back to work the next day, but she took Eli's advice and tries not to work as much. She doesn't want to make Nico upset again. Everything has been going smoothly, except for Nico's mood swings which have been happening very often lately. Maki is starting to think that Nico just wants to yell for no reason, but she won't bring it up or else she will have to sleep at the hospital. The last time she had to sleep at the hospital was when she brought home the wrong ice cream flavor.

Nico was really craving some double chocolate fudge and brownie ice cream. Maki couldn't find it so instead she decided to just get regular chocolate ice cream. Maki didn't think there was a difference. Chocolate is chocolate right?..WRONG! That was a big mistake. When she got home Nico threw a fit and told Maki she couldn't come back home until she came home with the right ice cream. Maki had to spend the night at the hospital and she made a mental note to get more comfortable chairs and to always get the exact thing that Nico asked for. The next day she came home with 10 pints of double chocolate fudge and brownie ice cream. A happy Nico means a happy home.

Nico was now in her third trimester and 32 weeks pregnant. The baby will be here soon and Maki and Nico couldn't be anymore excited. After talking with Eli and going to all the soon to be parents classes with Nico she felt a little better. Nico also reassured her. Telling her that she is going to be a great mother and she will always be there to help with their baby whenever Maki felt unsure.

"What do you think of this name Maki?"

Maki looked up from the book that she was reading to look at the name Nico was showing her. Maki and Nico are both relaxing on their living room couch. Maki was reading one of her many books while Nico had her head resting on Maki's shoulder while she flipped through her book of baby names.

"I think Ruby is a pretty name." Nico said pointing at the name.

"Hmmm I don't really like it that much. Ruby is a pretty name but I don't think it will fit our daughter."

Nico took a deep breath, sighing in frustration. She has been thinking of baby names for the past two months but Maki didn't like any of here suggestions. She was really starting to get frustrated with Maki. "Maki stop turning down every name that I suggest to you. The baby will be here soon so we have to pick a name soon. At least help me pick out a name."

"I know and I'm sorry. I'll help you. I just want our daughter to have a beautiful name."

Nico smiled. "Okay then what do you suggest we name her?" Nico asked.

"Ummm... Oh I know how about we name her using our names."

"Huh?" Nico looked at Maki with a confused look.

"We can combine our name."

"Like Mico?" Nico said.

"No but let's keep thinking. Here how about we write down our suggestions and then have a vote and which one we like best." Maki suggested.

After 30 minutes of writing down name suggestions and eliminating names one by one. They were finally down to two last names.

"Alright so the last two names we have are 'Miiko' and 'Maiko'. I really like the name Maiko." Maki said.

"I like Miiko more." Nico said.

"I think you just like it more because it sounds so close to your name."

"What it's a cute name. She's bound to be very successful with this name." Nico said.

Maki sighed. "Let's just sleep on this for right now. The good thing is we have two names in mind right now we just have to pick one later. Come on let's go to sleep. We can ask our friends tomorrow at the baby shower. This little one is going to be loved no matter what we name here." Maki kissed Nico's stomach. "I promise I won't let you mom give you a crazy and when she gets angry at you, I'll take you out for some treats until she calms down."
