"Chapter 3 • banana peel"

—LUNCH BREAK—

Nakapila na kami ni Althea sa cafeteria to buy some lunch. After naming makabili ay dumiretso na kami sa favourite table at favourite spot namin–sa tables sa labas  ng cafeteria, sa may Helen's Garden banda.

"Gurl, nakakainis! Bakit mo katabi 'yung fafa ha?"

Natawa nalang ako bigla sa tanong niya habang kumakain kami.

"Blame Ms Sanchez, at isa pa, I didn't wish for it naman."

"Speaking of that papa, he's there oh!"

Tinuro n'ya at lumingon naman ako, andoon s'ya, si Andrew. Although maraming nago-offer sakan'ya ng seat sa mga tables nila, especially mga girls, he was still searching for a seat. And then bigla nalang s'yang inakbayan ni Bryle, a friend and a classmet of ours. Looks like naging magkakaibigan na sila, pumunta na sila sa table nila.

"Kasama n'ya sila Bryle, so I hope ma-convince din nila s'ya na sumali sa basketball team nila, ang hot n'ya siguro wearing that jersey, what do you think Co?"

"Ehh, pagpapawisan lang din n'ya yun."

"KJ mo talaga, hay nako."

We talked, laughed, and ate for a few minutes nang biglang may narinig kaming sumigaw.

"ARAY!"

Isang lalaking nadulas banda sa likuran ko. Sa sobrang lakas ng sigaw n'ya talaga namang napatingin lahat sakan'ya, agad naman akong tumayo para tulungan s'ya. Pero pag tingin ko sa table nila Andrew, tumatawa sila.

Tinulungan ko nang makatayo yung lalaki.

"Nabalian ka ba o ano? Tara, dalhin na kita sa clinic."

"'Wag na, okay lang ako, salamat ha."

"Sure ka ba? mukhang masakit pagkalaglag mo eh, tara na samahan na kita."

"'Wag na, abala pa."

"Hindi 'no."

"Tsaka isa pa, nakakahiya eh. Hindi ko lang man nakita 'tong banana peel na 'to, nadulas tuloy ako. Pero salamat talga, I'm Bryan by the way."

"Coco"

"I already know you, you're quite famous at our school, at isa pa, our family is close. I'm Bryan Alejandro, Bryle Alejandro's brother."

"Oh, that's why you look so familiar and you look like Bryle too! Except that you wear glasses and Bryle have an athletic body, no offense tho."

"It's okay, I already know that." he smiled.

I smiled too at nag shake hands kami. Matangkad si Bryan, pale boy, kulot ang hair, messy pero maayos tignan, he's thin unlike Bryle, and he wears glasses that makes him look like a little nerd.

I helped him walk k'onti papasok ng cafeteria n'ya at bumalik na sa table ko. Pagbalik ko, I can't help to notice na tumatawa parin sila Andrew at ang mga kasama n'ya.

"Oh my God, is he okay?"

"Yep, thankfully, he still can walk."

"Bryle and the rest of his team are laughing."

"'Cause maybe sila naglagay ng banana peel doon at inantay na may madulas, mga pranksters. Jerks."

"Oh no my dear friend, you're really starting to be a man hater."

"No I'm not, I have a brother and I love him, I just hate jerks."

"Yeah and your brother Evan is one of them, did you forget na s'ya ang leader-leaderan nila Bryle, so does that makes your brother a jerk too?"

"Definitely not, ibahin mo s'ya. He's not that goof tulad nila."

"Well you don't know all of them yet, maybe malay mo, si Andrew tulad din ni Evan."

"Heck not, he looks and acts like a bad boy."

"Your loss kapag napunta s'ya sa'kin."

"Your loss kamo."

"Kamokazee."

"You're so lame." but even though that was a lame joke, we both laughed. We can't help it.

Then, suddenly 3 girls approached our table. One of them is tall, one of them is white as hell and quite pale, one of them is a girl who can't take her eyes off of her phone. They are our friends! The tall one is Laura, our mvp 'cause she can play any sports very well. The pale one and quiet one is Max who loves to read, and lastly, the always-online-gal, our jolly friend Kyle.

"Ba't kakadating nyo lang?" Althea asked them

"Eh kasi tong si Kyle nagpapicture pa after ng class namin eh" sagot ni Laura

"Hello, the lightning was good kase, it's instagram worthy" banat ni Kyle

Syempre napa-kunot noo kami, pero alam naman naming hindi ganoon ka-talinuhan si Kyle, pero okay lang, tanggap namin. "Lighting 'yon, Kyle."

"Lighting? lightning? one letter lang naman pinagka-iba, hayaan na natin"

"Boba" sabi ni Maxine pagkatapos nya batukan ito. They are twins, pero sobrang opposite sila maliban sa looks.

We laughed and enjoyed the rest of our lunch.

I have to sleep, pinikit ko na ang aking mga mata. I wonder if I will dream about Elvis again. Or maybe hindi na, I think that was just a weird dream at one time thing lang kaya 'di ko narin kinwento kila Althea. Pero whatever, I'm just going to sleep.
