I've been at Avengers Tower for a week. It was amazing at first, getting to live with my heroes, but now I'm just bored. The Avengers go on mission's almost every day. Most of the time only one or two leave but sometimes, if it's a big enough threat, they all do. I mean sure, there's plenty to keep me entertained, Tony has all sorts of amazing technology. But I wish I could help. I know on the field I would just get in the way, it's not that I'm helpless and have no fighting skills whatsoever, but I don't have powers, I don't have super suits, and I'm not a trained assassin. Even Pepper does something, she runs Stark Industries. I've thought about asking Natasha to train me but I don't want to waste her time. Luckily, Tony hasn't told anyone about me and Loki but I don't know if that luck will hold out.
I'm sitting on my bed in my room, scrolling through Tumblr when I hear a knock on my door, "Hey (y/n), I just wanted to let you know all of us are going on a mission. Some Hydra has popped up so we might be gone for a few days. You know to ask JARVIS for anything. Oh, and Tony told me to remind you not to leave the tower because of A) your doppelganger might live in this world." That sends a shiver through my spine, I hadn't thought much of my doppelganger. I'll see if I can find anything on the web later. "B) New York is dangerous and also you could get lost." I roll my eyes, but he does a point. "Ok! Got it. Take out that Nazi scum for me. Seeya." I say, opening the door and waving slightly, "I'm guessing the others are already in the helicopter?" Steve nods. "Ok, say bye to everyone for me. Thanks a million." Steve says he will before walking off. I close the door.
The Avengers have been gone a day when I hear a knock on my door, I'm immediately suspicious, as no one should be here. I grab the bat I keep under my mattress (force of habit, Tony rolled his eyes when I asked for one but he got it anyway) I hold the bat up and stand to the left of the door before I press the open button, it opens and I swing the bat at whoever is in the door. An agitated Nick Fury catches it, "I wouldn't suggest hitting the former Director of S.H.I.E.L.D with a bat." Nick let's go of the bat and I lower it, embarrassed, "Sorry sir, I didn't realize it was you and since the Avengers are gone I was suspicious." Fury usually doesn't make house calls. "Well, battle reflexes are important. Let me guess, you're tired of being stuck here?" I nod. "Good. Because I'm going to make a S.H.I.E.L.D agent out of you."
"NO! We've been through this! If you don't get that stance right you'll fall over when you throw that punch. Like you just did." Agent May tells me. I've only seen the number of Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D episodes they have on Netflix so if she's dead or something DON'T FUCKING TELL ME. I roll my eyes. Big mistake. "Oh, you think it's not a big deal?" "No-" I'm cut off "Well, it'll be a big deal when you're on the ground and your enemy shoots you in the chest. " May judo flips me over her shoulder, "Or, flips you. Like that." I stand up, brushing myself off, "I'm sorry Agent May. I'll try harder." Now it's her turn roll her eyes, "You better."
Three hours of training later, a whole lot of bruises, and a correct stance, I head back to my room. Opening the door, I'm met with a small surprise, a gift, sitting wrapped on my bed. The wrapping paper has some kind of silvery sheen. Do I trust it? I walk over to it, picking up the bat that I had left leaning against the wall next to my bed. I poke it. Nothing. "JARVIS scan this to see if it's booby-trapped." "Of course, Ms. (l/n)." I see a light scan the present. "It seems fine Ms. (l/n)" I pick up the box, turning it in my hands, examining all the sides, looking for a tag, a name, something to indicate who sent it. There's nothing. I shrug, what could go wrong. I touch the wrapping paper, it melts off. Weird. The second I open the box I immediately blacked out.
"What's going on?" I say when I come to. Or I try to say that. I'm gagged. I'm also blindfolded. "So sorry about the gag darling," A voice says. It sounds feminine but you never know. They drag darling out. "But I can't have you screaming. I mean no one would hear you but it would get dreadfully annoying." Is that a British accent? I think so. "Hmmm... I'm going to take your blindfold off. K?" Suddenly the blindfold is whisked off my face, and I blink, adjusting to the sudden light. I look around and notice I'm tied to a chair in a room with four concrete walls. I rest my gaze on the person in front of me. She's wearing an almost... glass outfit. It's not seethrough but at the same time, it is. It seems to bend with her movements though so it can't be glass. "I see you're admiring my outfit! It's a special kind of diamond I created. I would explain the science behind it but I doubt you would understand." Well, she's not wrong. "It reflects all light giving it this sheen. It also bends to my touch." She's also wearing one of those infinity sign masks that just go around your eyes but doesn't really keep your identity secret cause it covers almost nothing. Seriously, why do heroes and villains think those help? Anyway, it seems to be made of the same material. "My names The Diamond. And you're (y/n)! I hacked into Stark's system. For some reason, it's the only system in the world that acknowledges your existence." She shrugs, "But whatever. I hacked it easily enough." She smirks, "A girl has to have talents to survive in this world." She pulls my gag off, "Now, I'm trusting you not to scream." When I don't she smiles, "Good! Now, you might be wondering why I brought you here." I would spit at her but my throat is extremely dry, so I settle with a glare. Ignoring me, she continues, "I've been keeping an eye on Avengers Tower. Looking through windows. I've noticed you've been there for about a week and a half. Always there when they leave, never on missions. So, I'm guessing you need protection. So now I have you as leverage!" She smiles brightly at me, "Now, you might be wondering, 'But Diamond, why do you hate the Avengers so much?'" At this her smile turns into a scowl, "Well, to answer that I must tell you my Tragic Backstory. During the battle of New York in 2012, a building fell and killed my parents. I was 11." Wait... does that mean... Is she only 17? A kid? "Listen," I manage to saw through cracked lips, when was the last time I drank any water, "I'm so sorry. And that is absolutely horrible. But a lot of people died that day. The Avengers couldn't have saved your parents. I'm sorry." She glares at me, "Shut up! Just listen! And I'm mostly after Loki but yes, I partly blame the Avengers. Not really Tony though, he did save New York when he flew that nuke into that giant hole in the sky." I sigh, what am I going to do?
Hiiiiiiiiii!!!!!!!!!! I'm back!!! So sorry I've been busy. Like, REALLY busy. Um, I hope you like it? Can't promise when the next chapter will be! Love Y'all!
