If Penny didn't kidnap Toni, but Betty (2x21)

"Hello?" Jughead says drowsily into the phone, the events from the night draining him.

"Hello, lover boy. It's your old gal-pal," He hears Penny Peabody say from the other end of the line.

"Penny?" His voice still seems quiet. "It's a really bad time."

"Oh, I heard! Riverdale burning to the ground, tragic!" He almost scowls at the tone of her voice, "How 'bout we meet up and talk about it, hmm? Your old hangout by the docks?"

Jughead takes a second to respond, "Why the hell would I do that?" He questions her.

"Cause if you don't I'll start carving up your girlfriend's face," Jughead's heart dropped to the bottom of his stomach. Not Betty. They couldn't hurt Betty.

"Betty?" His voice is filled with worry.

"I would get here soon, you only have about ten minutes until we get impatient here." That sick bitch, Jughead thinks. "What do you think I should start with?"

"Jughead, don't do it!" He hears Betty yell from the other side of the phone. Next is a scream, loud but small.

"Shut up, ponytail! Maybe her tongue?" She asks him.

"I'm coming, Betty, just hold on!" Jughead races out of the Whye Wyrm. He hops on his motorcycle and drives over the dock at full speed. He jumped off his bike as soon as it came to a stop and ran full speed towards the fire pit. Betty was tied up on an old couch, tears were in her eyes but Jughead could tell she was holding everything in and trying to be strong.

He runs as fast as he can towards her and pulls her into a hug. "No, Jughead!" She screams. Seconds later he is pulled away from her by two ghoulies.

"Now now, Jug, don't be stupid. Did you really not think to call for backup? Silly you, I guess you're just gonna have to sit here and watch as I cut up your pretty girlfriend."

"Shut your fucking mouth, Penny! Don't you dare touch her!" Jughead screams in her face, the two ghoulies still holding him back.

Some guys walk over to Betty and hold her down. She's screaming for them to stop, for Jughead to look away, but he can't. Penny saunters to her side and brings out her pocket knife, "All snakes have a soft underbelly," Penny recites to Jughead, remembering what she said to him that one day in Pops, "She's yours." Jug screams for her to stop, to hurt him instead. Penny won't budge. She brings the knife to Betty's arm and starts to cut.

"Stop! Stop!" Jughead yells as loud as he can, trying to get her to drop the knife. Betty is trying hard not to cry, but the bloody lines on her arms contradicted her will to be strong. She mouths to Jughead that she's alright, that it's okay, she'll be fine. He doesn't believe her one bit.

Penny kicks her in the stomach, "Is that all you've got in you?" Betty says, making her mad.

"Oh, there's a lot more where that came from." Penny pushes her down and proceeds to kick and punch Betty. She leaves cuts all up and down her arms, even to her neck. Jughead has tears on his cheeks. Betty keeps trying not to cry, but the pain had gotten to her. She starts to sob.

"It's okay, Jughead, I'm okay." She whimpers.

"Like hell you are," Jughead says during the brief moment Penny had stopped hurting Betty. "Betty, everything's going to be fine, I'll get you out of this."

"Aww how cute! Enjoy your last moments together, because I'm going to make you regret ever coming here," Penny says.

Jughead was raging, "Fuck you, Penny! Fuck! You!"

She cries out in pain as Penny digs the knife deeper into her flesh. That was the last straw for Jughead. He was done. He was ready to snap.

Jug elbowed one of the men behind him and started to punch the other one. When they were both on the ground, he ran for Penny and pushed her over, punching her face and knocking her out cold. But the other two guys holding Betty toppled him to the ground. He fought as hard as he could.

"No, Jughead! Stop it, you're killing him! Stop it! Jug!" Betty yells at the top of her lungs. "Stop!"

Jug fights as hard as he can, his face and arms were swollen from the throws the ghoulies had targeted at him. For Betty, it seemed like an eternity was going by as the beat him up. She sobbed loudly for them to stop, wanting nothing more than her boyfriend to be okay. "Jughead! Stop fighting! Let him go, please!" She couldn't stop her cries.

A few punches later, Jughead had beaten the men. "Betty," He ran over to her and untied her, bringing her close to his chest. "Sweetie, are you okay? Talk to me." 


Betty sobs, "I thought they were going to kill you, Juggie. They were hurting you so much."

"It's okay, I'm okay. We need to get to a hospital, you're bleeding out," Jughead says to her. He breaks off a piece of his shirt and wraps it around her wounds. He puts his arms around her waist and starts to walk towards his motorcycle.

"Jughead, wait," Betty says, her voice frail. He turns back around only to meet the crying eyes of the broken girl. Sobs racked her body as she breaks down onto the floor.

"Oh my God, Betts," Jughead crawls over to her and pulls her into a hug. "Shh, everything's okay now, it's all going to be okay."

"I.. was so... scared," She sobs into his chest, "You looked so hurt, you're still so hurt and it's all because of me. You shouldn't have come, Jug."



"I would always come for you, Betty. Always. I would never leave you behind, I'll always be here for you." He picks up the sobbing girl and pulls her on his motorcycle. His arms were weak from fighting, but he would manage. For Betty.

It's so cramped when they get to the hospital that they have to share a room, not that they're complaining. Betty got stitched up and some pain meds and Jughead was cleaned up. "I was so worried about you," Jughead whispers to Betty as she lays next to him, "I didn't know what she would do to you. She's a psychopath, I thought she was going to hurt you badly." 


"I'm okay, Jug. Thank you... for rescuing me. I don't know what I could do without you." The girl whispers, the day's events physically and mentally draining her.

"I love you, Betty Cooper."

"Jughead Jones... I love you."
