Chapter One – My First Encounter With Daniel Worsnop.

I've wanted to be a mum for as long as I can remember, I had a good but slightly dysfunctional upbringing and I wanted to get the perfect family life which in turn would lead to at least half of my life being “normal”.

My mum and dad divorced when I was ten and two years before that they used to argue daily, even I, an eight year old, could tell they weren’t happy.

I wasn't very popular at school and my only real friends were my big brothers Ben and Matt and my best friend Katie, who attended the local Catholic school instead of the all girls’ school I went to, I used to wake up, go to school, do my homework, and then restart that pattern again. As I got older I got jobs but I didn't go out to parties like Katie did, however we still remained best friends. Then when I was eleven my mum announced that she was moving for two years with her work to Dubai but luckily because of the divorce we got to choose whether to move with her or stay with my dad in York. My brothers moved and I stayed with my dad. We kept in contact for the first ten months but then school caught up with us and we gradually lost frequent contact. Two years later (when we were 13, 15 and 16) they returned from Dubai and although they visited dad and we all saw each other I'd grown up and we suddenly realized, even though we tried, it was becoming harder and harder to keep each other in the loop of our own little lives. Soon after moving back to England my dad had to move to work in London so, to make everything easier we all moved into a big house in Hull; me, mum, dad, Ben and Matt. Luckily for us mum and dad were best friends.

The first month went by like lightning and we had all adapted to our new lives together in Hull. After six weeks had passed since the move my elder brother Ben brought home someone who, even though I didn’t know it then at the tender age of 13, was going to change my life forever. And that guy was Danny Worsnop.

--------------------------------------------------------

“DANNY! I CAN’T FIND MY PHONE!” My brothers voice came ringing through my ears and just as I managed to get my eyes adjusted to the light a young boy, roughly the same age as Ben, came bounding through my door. This I assumed was the, ‘Danny’ I had heard Ben yelling at earlier.

“Oh, hi, you’re up.” He stuttered, looking me straight in the eyes,

“Yep, just." I replied only to be greeted with a slight blush from Danny, to avoid him anymore embarrasment I kept talking,

"So… how come you’re in my room… whoever you are…?”

“Oh sorry, I’m Danny, I’m Ben’s friend… stayed the night…” I nodded for him to go on,

“Right sorry, again, your mum and dad want you downstairs so you can open your birthday presents before they go. Ben and I will be in all day though. Lucky you, should I tell them your coming down… whatshername”

I giggled at his Green Day reference before nodding,

“Lucky me indeed, I’m Evie, or Eve, you get a choice.”

“Hmm, it seems we’re both in luck today. I’ll go with Evie, my girlfriend is nicknamed Eve, it’ll save confusion.”
