Chapter 6

Alisha's POV
I wished the semester could finish in the twinkle of an eye because the past four days I have been in school, haven't been interesting. I was literally moody all the time and I couldn't figure out why. Maybe it was because I wasn't at home or because nothing had started yet in school or the fact that 'Dave' kept on getting on my nerve.

Since after he came to my room with Buma, he hasn't let me be, he always mocked me at whatever chance he got. So I tried to dodge him so that I won't cross paths with him. I was a bit frustrated but I handled it well, so l thought, by avoiding him.

The time for our orientation was the next day and I was prepared for whatever it was about and it was to last for a week. Maybe I will get to meet new friends during the course.

The orientation day came and all the freshman students matched to the auditorium with either their bags or just phones. I was with my school bag hung at my back. When I got to the auditorium, I realized that we were over 500 and I was taken aback. I didn't expect us to be in numbers.

I sat by the window admiring the large decorated hall when I felt someone sit beside me. I turned to the direction of the person and there sat my tormentor for the past days. You got to be Kidding me! Of all days why today?

"Hello Alisha" he greeted while he smirked. His smile was mischievous and I wondered what game he was about to play. I ignored his greetings and asked instead.

"What are you doing here?"

" common, no reply? Well, I am a freshman just like you" he said while he leaned closer to me.

His reply surprised me because I never knew he was a freshman. His aura was radiating an old guy in the school game. I couldn't hide what I felt and he noticed it and laughed and said

" and mind you Alisha, we are in the same department"

WTF?! So all my efforts to avoid him were all in vain! I was disappointed.

" oh cool" I just said with a crease on my forehead.

" don't worry Alisha, we will go a long way and you really smell nice by the way. So you do use nice perfumes?"

His perfume line pissed me off and I turned to him saying with anger in my voice.

"No I don't use perfumes it is a natural something"

"Calm down, I was just curious" he was still laughing when they Registrar and his team walked into the hall. I just rolled my eyes at him and ignored him throughout the whole excercise.

The orientation week was quite stressful and exhausting. If one could lose 20kg by just walking in one week, I would have looked like a skeleton. We were taken round the large school to different sections while each sections were introduced to us. On the last day, I was excited because the so called exercise came to an end.  I completely kept off Dave from his unending annoying voice. When we were finally dismissed, I hurriedly walked down to the hostel but I was stopped by the piercing voice of Dave who shouted my name from the crowd of freshmen who were moving like swam of bees. I pretended not to hear him and I increase my pace.

"Alisha" he shouted once more and this time, he caught up with me and I gave up.

"So, why in a hurry? Avoiding me right?" He asked

" what is it Dave?"

"Wow, you called me by my name, that's progress."he said smiling

"What progress? Please I don't have your time today." I said while I tried to go but he held my hand and said

"You will definitely have my time. And I hope you are preparing for the freshers party tomorrow night"

OMG! I totally forgot about that. I already made up my mind not to go for it because I didn't  have anything to wear and I felt I wouldn't be comfortable.

"Oh that, I am not going" I bluntly said

" why ? Common, you can't keep hiding yourself, I know you can be crazy so please come and show it to me" and with that he let go of my hand and headed to a different direction.

I didn't  understand what he meant that 'I keep hiding myself'. Didn't  he get it that I was just being me. His words kept on playing in my head and suddenly my inner voice agreed with him.

"Common Alisha, you know he is right. I get to deal with your crazy self everyday"

I muttered 'shut up' and the thoughts vanished.

I brought out my IPhone from my bag and discovered that I had unread messages and they were all from Kamsi.

'Al how are you today?'

'Is the orientation finally over, I have missed you'

'It seems you haven't been dismissed yet"

I read the messages smiling and the part where he said he missed me made me grin so wide that I felt my mouth tearing. He really makes my heart leap for joy.

"Kamsi, just finished" I replied to his messages leaving out that I missed him too.

"Oh cool, how did it go?"

"It went well, I am glad it has ended."

"Finally, at least you won't rant about it again."

"Lol, I know right."

"So what are you up to?"

"Going back to the hostel. We have a party tomorrow but I don't think I will be going."

"Al, common, you should go and have fun, flash your beauty to the guys."

"Which beauty? Abegy..my roommates bro invited me. I refused sha. That guy is just a pain in the ass."

"Wow, I can see you are already blending in. You should go with him but he shouldn't take you away from me."

"Lol, what do you mean?"

"Oh nothing, please go for the party and take pictures too."

"Kamsi, I am not going and besides I don't have what to wear."

"I trust you will figure out something. Later Al, let me rush to class, remember I have my finals coming up."

"Alright Kamsi, later"

I didn't know what move to take anymore. The pressure on me to go for the party made me lose my mind and I was pretty much sure that Buma wouldn't let me be. She would feed me with the details of how the past parties had been and how I must ended so that I wouldn't miss out.

As I approached my room, I was prepared for what Buma's reaction would be if I told her I wasn't going to smell the party ground. I turned the handle of the door and before I could take my first step inside, Buma just shouted,

"junior coursy, I hope you are going for the party tomorrow?"
