Chapter 9

Alisha's POV
Kamsi's message directed my life for the next weeks before mid-term quiz. I avoided Dave like a plague because I didn't want the 'supposed feelings' or whatever Kamsi was talking about to even build an atom in my mind. It wasn't even possible for me to fall for someone after few weeks. Few weeks! Common, this happens only in the movies and I haven't felt anything like that before. I wanted to wash it out of my mind and for me to do that, I had to stop avoiding Dave. But damn, Dave was a case. We never had a conversation without fighting. But I had to forget all that because 'big bad wolf' scheduled his quiz for Monday and I was way behind schedule because of one topic I couldn't get to grab. Dave was good at Chemistry or will I say very good because he get to answer most of the questions thrown by 'big bad wolf'. I labeled him element because he bulged our eyes out in class when he recited the periodic table back to back. It was hilarious. I thought I was a nerd but damn! Dave was hell of a nerd.

After maths lecture with Professor Garba, I went to Dave to ask for his help. Dave got the memo that he was an ass and so stopped sitting close to me at any lecture. Today, he sat with Mike who was an Engineering student and taking the same course with us. Mike noticed me coming their way and he whispered to Dave and he turned to my direction.

'Hey Dave" I greeted him as I approached

"Wow! Aphrodite isn't avoiding me anymore" Dave said without smiling, he just had a straight face.

"I wasn't avoiding you Dave abeg. I was just busy" I lied

"Oh, says the girl who changed her sitting position in class just because I call her Aphrodite" Dave said shaking his head.

"Dave please" I rolled my eyes

"Common guy, let her be"  Mike tapped Dave's back pretending to comfort him.

I smiled and then sat down right in front of Dave. I avoided his gaze and pushed my hand into my school back and brought out my chemistry note.

"Abeg, I need your help" I blurted out.

"You need my help!" He claimed to be surprised while giving out a smirk.

"I need a tutor and you are the perfect person for the Job" I said avoiding his gaze.

"Why is that?" He asked

"I know you are good in chemistry and please do not pretend that you aren't"

"Alright then, we will meet in the lecture hall after our last lecture for the day" He agreed

Dave was actually a good tutor, he made me understand everything. I didn't just understand that aspect of chemistry, but Dave also. He wasn't just a playboy but also a serious person. Our short time tutorial was the best and I enjoyed every bit of it. I decided to pick Dave as my tutor without pay of course.

" Dave, thanks for the tutoring, I am sure I will murder the quiz tomorrow" I said packing up my books from the table.

" sure you will" Dave agreed in return

" one more favour?" I asked him

"What's it again?"

"Will you love to be my study buddy?" I asked

Dave just stood still giving me a surprised look and then he smirked.

"Wow, Aphrodite wants me so close"

"Biko, are you going to be or not"

"For sure, and mind you, I teach other things. You know what I mean" I smirked while he played with his brows.

" I don't know what you mean"

" don't know , this my Aphrodite can pretend for Africa. Abeg waka go hostel"

I rolled my eyes at him and left for my hostel.
As usual, my headphones were fixed on my ears while I walked to the hostel then my phone beeped.

' Al, hope today was great'

' Kamsi it is, how are you doing?'

'So great, so how's your boo?'

'Kamsi abeg

'Which boo, Kamsi abeg, I don't have a boo. And besides, what will I do with one".

"Stop talking jare as if you don't want him".

"Hmm, I want just one thing".

"And that is?"

"A good CGPA".

"I am not surprised, nerd".

"I know o, so how's school?"

"Fine, I will be starting exams next week".

"Oh cool, I trust you".

I got into the hostel and the room was dark. Probably, Buma would have gone to class for her night study or well, I don't know.

I literally jumped on my bed because I was exhausted. But I couldn't Rest beacause Dave kept on creeping into my thoughts. What is this bikonu? But I couldn't stop the volcano of thoughts. It was too intense.

'' wow, Feelings in the air"

I hate my subconscious so much, it doesn't know when to shut up!

I was beginning to get frustrated with the whole Dave thing and sometimes I don't get Kamsi. As much as I hate to admit it, Dave was so handsome, nice and fun to be with. So I couldn't fathom why I wasn't letting him in. Oh well, it doesn't matter. My thoughts are just mare thoughts and whatever Kamsi is implying doesn't exist within me.

"Keep telling yourself that"

I rolled my eyes and kicked off to my music mode. I really need sleep and I don't want any distractions again. Kamsi and Dave should go to hell for all I care. Rubbish! It isn't like they will boost my CGPA.

"Lol, Dave is doing just that moron"

I was wasting my time by trying to sleep, so I got up. I brought out my laptop to watch a movie, a horror, action or thriller movie to be precise because I was not ready for any sweet nonsense.
