The rest of the week passed and Sasuke and I got along much better. I guess since I knew why he always acted like he did, it made it easier for me to understand him and his quiet ways.
He even said "Hi" to me in the halls twice, and he offered to buy me a kolache on Wednesday when I forgot my wallet.
He was like an old friend, and I understood exactly why he and Naruto got along with each other. I just felt so... Comfortable around both of them.
But even though we were actually not trying to kill each other, he caught me off guard when he pulled me into his seat on the bus.
Instead of having the buses divided by sport, like in my old school, they just let the football players, cheerleaders, and band members alike go on whichever bus they wanted to.
So I had Sasuke, with his football uniform on, on my left, and Hinata, with her cheer leading uniform on, on my right. On the other side of her was Naruto, who was dressed similar to Sasuke.
Then Temari and Shikamaru were in the seat in front of them. It was a cool concept to let us intermingle, and I was sure Naruto and Shikamaru both liked spending time with their girlfriends, but I was kind of worried about the drive home, in the dark, with no adult supervision. I was sure they had enough respect for themselves and everyone around them not to do anything on a bus, but you could never be too sure.
"Does everyone have their instruments with them or loaded on the trailer?" Sasuke calls. We were smack in the middle, so choruses of "yeah" and "yes" came from both sides.
"Football pads and everything like that?" Naruto adds. More "yeah"s followed. Finally Temari spoke up and made sure the cheerleaders had everything. The first bus took off, then us. The two others followed behind us.
"How far away is this game?" I asked no one in particular while looking at Hinata and Naruto.
"Two and a half hours each way," Sasuke answers. I groan and slump down. Two and a half hours in a bus was not how I imagined spending my Friday night. I knew there was a football game I had to attend, but I didn't think it would be this far away.
"Chin up, Akemi! At least you have someone to talk to, since you and Sasuke are all chummy now," Naruto points out.
"We're not chummy," we state at the same time. I looked back at him and smiled slightly.
I guess that maybe, just maybe, since I didn't hate his guts, he was kinda cute. Ok, a lot cute. I had noticed it Tuesday but like hell was I going to tell anyone.
But right now I noticed that his eyes seemed to sparkle a little and looked really pretty. I leaned in a little and stared into his eyes, and he did the same to me.
I didn't think it was awkward or anything, I was just looking.
"They have blue in them," I state aloud.
"The ring around the outside? Yeah," he says, still looking into my eyes. "Yours are green, and a fleck of blue in the left one, and a fleck of brown in the right one."
My face heated up slightly, but Hinata spoke up.
"Oh my God, you two are so cute! I'm so shipping you now!" She says excitedly. I didn't know what "shipping" was, but it couldn't be good.
"What do you mean?" I ask quickly, breaking eye contact with Sasuke's onyx and azure orbs.
"You would be so cute together. She ships you. It means that she wants you two to be together and have cute little babies. Isn't that how most of the fanfictions go, Hinata?" Naruto cuts in. She blushes smally but nods nonetheless.
