I woke up hot. Extremely so.
It must've been because I piled on so many blankets last night. But wait...
I sat up and looked at the blanket. Even in the dark I could tell it wasn't one that I owned. Whose was it?
Then something else hit me.
This didn't smell like home. Home smelled like Ocean Breeze. At least, that's what all the Febreeze spray said.
It smelled like... Rain?
I pulled the blanket up to my face and sniffed it.
Definitely rain... Maybe that... What was it? Meadow Rain? That's what it is.
I didn't have Meadow Rain spray, did I? No, certainly not.
And the blanket... It was black. I didn't own a single black blanket. They were all varying shades of blue and green.
Never black.
Carefully, quietly, I pulled the covers down. Under the black blanket was a red sheet. Ok, I definitely wasn't home. I never used the top sheet.
I got off of the surprisingly soft bed-maybe it was memory foam- and opened the door. That's another thing. I never close my door.
Where the hell was I?
Whose house was I in?
God, what if someone kidnapped me? What would I do? I didn't have any weapons, and they certainly wouldn't have left them with me even if I did.
I peered out in the hallway. There were two doors to the right of me... And a staircase in front of the middle door. If I had to escape from up here and climb out a window or something, I'm on the left.
I stepped down the stairs, on the outside so they wouldn't creak and alert someone that I was awake, and looked around.
The living room was on the left, and the television was turned on to the news. I saw the door just a ways down the hallway and to the right. I quietly walked towards it. As I passed what looked like the kitchen, I realized too late that the light was on.
A figure was propped back against the counter drinking what could've only been coffee because it smelled like coffee. His eyes darted over to me and before he could utter a word, a high pitched shriek escaped my lips. I turned on my heel and sprinted, now, normally I hate running, but I was probably in a murderer's house and he knew that I was awake now.
The steps flew under me and I stopped for only a split second at the top.
Left. That's all I remembered.
I threw the leftmost door open and dashed inside, barely remembering that I had seen doors on my right. My room was on the left, going down the stairs. But I came up the stairs and went left. I should've gone right. I crashed onto the bed and into someone.
A hand touched my shoulder and I screamed. A loud, ear piercing scream.
"Akemi, what the hell are you doing?"
By now I was crying, trying to think of ways to bargain my way out of this with my life. Then it dawned on me. He knew my name...
I sat up and looked and him.
And then my shoulders sagged in relief as I recognized the black hair, the onyx eyes. Sasuke.
A choked sob escape my lips as I wrapped my arms around him and burrowed into his chest.
"Akemi?" he asks in what I process to be a concerned voice.
"Sasuke, this chick just..."
"Itachi, turn the light on," Sasuke's voice commands. It takes a second and then it goes bright. I look up and see Sasuke's dark eyes looking over me, trying to figure out why I was like this.
