"Sasuke! You're finally here! We saved you a seat between..." the voice trails off upon noticing me walk in behind him. The pink hair belonged to exactly who I thought it would.
"Akemi!" is all I hear before I'm practically tackled. A bright blonde head appears over my shoulder.
"Hello, Naruto," I say nervously. Almost everyone at the huge table had gone silent. This was not a good sign.
"I thought you said you wouldn't bring her," Naruto says accusingly, and I knew it was directed to the shadow beside me.
"Things change," he says simply. He walks over to the place beside Hinata and pulls out the chair. He gestures me over. I tentatively walk over and sit down. He pulls the chair out beside me and sits down. Naruto returns to his place beside Hinata.
The table remains silent.
"So... Akemi, are you looking forward to seeing us march?" Hinata asks softly. I smile.
"Yeah. I'm hoping that within a few weeks he can find a space to put me on the field," I say. She smiles.
"That's great! I've thought about joining band, but I could never play an instrument," Naruto says, trying to get the conversation back up. I laugh.
Slowly, the murmurs return, though they were guarded. I guess I was an outcast still.
I order my burger and a Dr. Pepper.
"Dr. Pepper makes your vajayjay smell," Sakura says from across the table. She smirks when my face goes red.
"Well, it hasn't happened yet, so I think I'm safe," I say with a smirk. She scowls and turns back to Ino.
"Good one," Naruto says loudly, patting my back around Hinata. It's like he was making it obvious that he was on my side...
I sit in silence the rest of the time and the conversation finally returns to a roar. I obviously didn't belong here. Why had I agreed to come?
"Naruto's getting suspicious," Sasuke warns me. I look to the side and see Naruto looking at me curiously.
"You look like you don't want to be here," he says.
My eyes widen. "Oh, I'm just hungry. It takes forever for the food," I say.
"Well, it was a big order," Hinata defends.
"So, Sasuke, what made you decide to bring Akemi?" Naruto asks. He seemed to have bought my excuse.
"Just felt like it," he says.
"Well, you can bring her to all of the Friday night parties," Naruto chirps. My heart sinks.
Sasuke glowers at Naruto and then a plate is set in front of him. Mine follows right after, and I grin. The patty was huge, the bun was toasted, and the French fries were crispy.
I reach for the ketchup at the same time Ino does. I relinquish my grip on it and let her have it.
"Considering how fat you are, I'd think you were a bit more conscious of what you ate. I don't think you really need any ketchup," she says with a smirk. I stare at her impassively, though my insides were writhing in anger.
"Akemi is not fat, you whore," Temari speaks up from beside Sasuke. My mouth practically drops on the table.
"I'd watch your mouth. Remember you can get kicked off the squad," Sakura says with a smirk.
"Right, because the co-captain can totally do that," she says, rolling her eyes. My eyes darted back to Sakura and Ino. Sakura's nails dig into her burger in fury. I guess she didn't like being second.
