I set my other skate on the ice. My skates tight around my feet. There was only one other person on the ice and a few more on the benches getting ready and stretching. I zipped my jacket up so the turtle neck was fully formed. I hid my chin and part of my mouth in it, secluding myself to the other skaters. I skated around the rink avoiding all human contact. I was nervous. Nervous to the point that my hands were shaking. I hid them in my jacket too.
I did frequent cross overs and once and a while I hit my toe pick on the ice. I guess that's a habit from when I was little. Sometimes I use my toe pick to propel myself into a spin.
Once I was warmed up on the ice I started to do some simple jumps. I did a few waltz's with no problem and moved onto salchows. I tried some loops and toe loops too. I few a few times during my practice jumps.
I was still nervous. Though my shaking had gone down, I was anxious and I felt a warm haze over my body and a lump in my throat. Sometimes I don't give two shits about how I do and what other people think of me, and I usually do amazing then! But today, I'm not focused. I need to be though. I cant let my coach down!
...
Oh I see now..
I don't want to loose because of him.
But I still have to get gold no matter how anxious or nervous I am.
I can do this.
I need to do this.
I will do this.
But the other skaters are landing everything that I didn't...
But I will land them.
But what if I don't.
But I have before.
But I--
My gaze was caught by a girl walking in the arena doors. It was the girl from yesterday. Kari. She caught me mid jump...
I wasn't focused on the jump when I saw her.
All I remember after that was staring at the ice then everything going black. I then woke up in the hospital. I was slightly conscious as I was being rushed on a hospital bed to a room with my coach and Kari running along side of the doctors.
I couldn't see well, my eyesight was red and my eyes stung.
When we reached the doors of what seemed to be an operation room, Kari and my coach had to wait outside. A giant bright light met my eyes and blinded me for a second before it was blocked by a mask. I was put on Anastasia.
