Media came after art, and that was a little bit tricky. After returning to my locker to get my usb and laptop I discovered that the media room was being used by another class and that we had been kicked to one of the science rooms. And I hated being in the science rooms as I didn't trust my class to not fuck something up.
My media class was decently big, with a good maybe fifteen people in it. I loved it, as I really got to express myself in the class. I could do almost whatever I wanted and could use other projects in other classes to help with this one and get everything done in one hit. And that is what I had done with my newest project. All I had left to do was editing, and so the little green usb that I clutched in my hand was my life, right in that moment.
By the time I even got to the classroom we were supposed to be in I noticed that there was some light banging coming from the supply cupboard, and that the teacher was missing. Laughing, crashes, hissing, the works. All from the same place. I sat down decently close to the front of the room and began setting everything up. I was about to pull my earphones from my pocket when some light sobbing floated over to my ears, along with some harsh whispering and some quiet snickering. I let out a huff and shook my head, turning my head slowly to where I noticed a bunch of kids picking on one of my cousins only friends. I didn't know what they were picking on him for this time but I stood up and snapped into action. My 'Protective Mother' mode was locked on, and I stalked over to the corner where these three bullies had surrounded my cousins friend.
"I'm sorry," I started, putting my hand on the shoulder of the sole girl of the group "But would you mind leaving Declan alone?"
The girl turned on her heel rather quickly and slapped my hand away, her eyes narrowing. This was my ex boyfriends new girlfriend, and she hated me with a seething passion. You could just see the spark of unadulterated hatred in her eyes as she stared at me. Her eyes were a poisonous green, and I couldn't deny that she was very pretty, in a traditional sense, with a round rafe, bright eyes and a perfect hour glass figure, but the sneer that decorated her lips certainly ruined the picture for me.
"What the hell did you just say to me?" She asked "Don't fucking touch me!"
"I said," I stated, getting all up in her face with no problem at all "Leave the kid alone."I pulled back just in time to dodge her next slap, and smiled disapprovingly at her, my ex who stood to her right, and her side piece of meat who stood to her left. I pursed my lips and stepped backwards once to every step forwards that they took. So long as their attention was no longer on the tightly curled, lightly sobbing red head who sat in the corner then I was okay with whatever happened, and so I didn't mind that their bullying had turned onto me.
"You're not on the news anymore, "Super Sister"," this girl sneered "You can't save everyone, you should know that by now."
"You think I don't know that?" I asked calmly, images of a house blowing up in flames before imploding slipping through my mind "But if I can save anyone from your damn bullying then it doesn't really matter, now does it?"
"Get the fuck out of her face," my ex snapped, his arm wrapped tightly around the bitches waist
"I'm not in her face," I explained calmly
"Why don't you just go fuck off and die?" The new girlfriend sneered "The world would be a much better place. Sean told me what happened earlier, you freaky bitch. You should be locked up somewhere, freak."
"Freak, freak, freak, freak," chanted the side pieceSoon the whole class, except for maybe Declan, had piped up and began chanting along with the original three. I felt sick to my stomache as I moved closer to the windows and furthur away from the quickly growing mob. I squeezed my eyes closed as I conidered my options, one hand on my roiling stomach.
That was when a loud bang was heard, and a thick smoke filled the room. I folded my jumpers collar in front of my mouth, pressing it close to breath through it. Kids were panicking, trying to get through the doorway in multiples. I turned around and tried to usher as many out as I could, moving to hold the door open.
"Go, go, go!" I exclaimed, counting heads as they all ran past, looking around the classroom "Go! Get out of here!"
I noticed that Declan hadn't moved and that he was still curled up in the corner, only now he was slumped against the wall with his eyes rolled into the back of his head. I shuddered and ran to pull him up, purposely not looking into his eyes as they kind of freaked me out. I slipped my arms under the poor kids body, hauling him up bridal style and legging it accross the room, only to find the door slammed in my face and to hear a lock clicking. That bitches face grinned from the other side of the door wickedly, her fingers wriggling in a tauntingly innocent looking wave. I glared at her, and set the red head who I had previously been holding down on a table. I readjusted my collar, for it had slipped down when I had picked up Declan, and looked for a way out. The smoke was thick, a weird dark purple colour, and it stung my eyes. That's when my eyes laid upon the book I was still carrying from recess. I knew that I couldn't throw very hard but decided to try my luck at aiming the book at the glass door.
I plucked the thick volume from the blue-grey desk and stood back from the door. With a little bit of aim and a lot of luck I threw the book as hard as I could, and it sailed right on through the lower panel of the glass door. But it wasn't enough. Focusing on the lock I made it unlock itself (why that wasn't my first move I'll never know). I turned around to pick up the heavy Declan once again, coughing up a lung at every instance. I gripped Declan's upper body and pushed him through the now open door, flinching away when his bare face scratched along a sharp shard of glass that was still sitting in the metal frame. I pushed the kid all the way through before climbing through myself, pushing past that gods awful bitch that had just tried to kill me. I leaned against the wall just outside the classroom, breathing heavily and coughing, trying to get rid of the smoke in my lungs. One of the neutral kids had seemingly called the authorities, and another was just ariving, jogging down the hallway with the teacher in tow. Smoke was now filling the hallways and kids were quickly leaving the scene.
