"What are you doing, Thomas? Get down!" I gritted my teeth.
"No. You're coming with me," he grabbed my shirt and yanked me into the clearing in clear view of the Illuminati. I pulled back, but the cold, steel barrel of his gun pressed against my temple, and I went slack. Principal Boser swaggered over and laughed maliciously.
"Thought you could catch me, boy? Ha. Stupid idea. Now you and all your friends will have to die because of your stupidity," he bragged. Great! I thought. Now everyone's going to die because I didn't think any of this through. Principal Boser grabbed the gun from Thomas and grabbed my arm in a vice-like grip.
"All you stupid kids, put your hands up and walk out from your hiding spots right now!" he commanded, "Or I blow your friend's brains all over the clearing." Slowly everyone walked out from where they were hiding and held up their arms in surrender.
"Please don't kill us! Let us go. I Don't want to die," Anne whined fearfully.
"If you wanted to live, maybe you should have thought your decision to come along through more, dear girl," Boser retorted sarcastically. "Although it probably wouldn't have made much of a difference." He laughed evilly again. As this exchange was going on, I was glancing around, trying to brainstorm a plan to get us out of this mess. Wait. Where's Chloe? Hope radiated through my chest. I hope she has a plan. I thought anxiously.
"I think you should learn to shut your mouth, you jerk!" Blaire suddenly blurted out. Principal Boser turned toward her. He raised his eyebrow, and before anyone could react, he pulled out a second gun and shot her. She jerked back and screamed.
"NO! Blaire!" David jumped forward and knelt by her. She gasped as she breathed shallowly. The bullet had punctured her lung. "No Blaire! Stay with me! Don't die!" David begged desperately.
Suddenly, Principal Boser and the leader jerked uncontrollably and flopped to the ground. Chloe jumped out from behind a nearby tree and shot the remaining Illuminati members with twin Tazers before they could react. Wow! I wasn't expecting that kind of awesomeness! My mouth hung open in shock. Chloe walked over.
"I don't think your mouth could open any further if you wanted it to, Andrew," she joked with a giant smirk on her face. My mouth closed, but I continued to stare at her in shock. I stayed in a trance until Chloe's dad and two police officers jumped down from a tree above us and landed on the ground with a plop.
"What? How? Chloe, I don't understand. How did you know this was going to happen?" I gaped incredulously. She smirked at me.
"I didn't know. I just had a feeling something was off with Thomas. I just made sure to be prepared." Man, sometimes I didn't know how I was so dumb.
"When did she tell you?" I questioned her dad.
"She told me right before we had to leave," he replied. "Thought it might be a 'blast', so I decided to come along." He smirked just like Chloe always did. "How about everyone walk back to their cars and drive to the hospital. We need to take care of Blaire."
I kicked myself mentally. Come on, Andrew. Get it together! Chloe's dad walked over to Blaire, and gently picked her up. He walked towards his car, with David glued to his side.
"Chloe, go with Andrew. I need all the seats in the car for Blaire and David," he commanded. Chloe smiled and turned to me.
"I wonder how fast your Ferrari can go," she teased playfully. I punched her shoulder.
"I'm not going to cause any more injuries, Chloe," I smiled.
"I'm just kidding, Andrew. You know I would never make you do something dangerous," she responded with a smile of her own. Chloe is so crazy sometimes. I shook my head as we made our way to my car.
