"I just need to find a map of the base. That should be easy. It'll be near the top headquarters." Jason said as he lead them through the corridors.
How does he know where everything is?
"Have you been here before?" Katlyn whispered.
"Yes. I'm a smuggler." He replied.
"Then do you know where they keep their prisoners?" She urged.
"I haven't been everywhere in the rebel base. Maybe I've seen it but I don't remember where it is." Jason opened a door to a large room with lots of technology. It must have been where they have communication with passing ships or other rebels.
He opened a drawer and pulled out a digital map. Pressing the button, a light blue map of the base appeared in three dimensional.
"This must be where it is. I see...." Jason studied it. " I know where that is. It's in the other smaller mountain towards the back."
Katlyn groaned and began to walk out as Jason put the map back.
So far they have been lucky and most rebels were asleep, with the occasional few who nodded their heads in greeting. They quickly walked out of the room, with Jason pulling the door shut.
Saavni had been camouflaged the entire walk. No one could spot her and sometimes Katlyn forgot she was there and bumped into her.
Katlyn followed Jason with her head low through the seemingly endless corridors.
At last they reached the exit, a large hole in the mountain. Two x-wings sat outside along with crates.
They hurried to the other mountain, which took longer than Katlyn thought. The main base was huge. It took five to ten minutes to fast walk to the smaller mountain.
More crates littered the ground in front of the base.
Katlyn looked up hearing footsteps and quickly hid behind one of the black crates.
Jason followed and put his blaster at the top edge of the crate, ready to shoot.
Katlyn felt a blaster shot go past her ear and ducked.
A rebel was alert and taking fire on Jason and Katlyn.
Duh, there's more guards for the other mountains.
She pulled out the rebel blaster she had stolen and and sat up. She reached out with her left hand, blaster ready to shoot.
Katlyn pulled the trigger but missed as the two rebel guards hid behind more crates.
Her shoulder had healed thanks to Saavni. A flashback came to her mind of the rebel attack on her and her father. She had been shot and learned that she somehow had used the force. She never got the chance to ask her father about it.
Katlyn wondered if she should try now.
She reached out with her mind and pointed the blaster at the crate, ready for the rebels to try to take a shot at them.
A rebel lifted his blaster over the crate and shot Jason on the arm. Her dropped his blaster, hissing in pain.
Katlyn took her chance and pulled the trigger. She watched the rebel fall to the ground.
I did it!
She looked at Jason and realized he was hurt.
"Are you ok?" Katlyn rushed over to him. He was clutching his arm that had a burn on it. Jason nodded. "I'm fine. Nice shooting. There's still one more though." He grabbed the gun and lifted it, aiming at the remaining rebel.
"Wait shouldn't you -" Katlyn started but stopped once she heard his blaster go off. The had fallen when Jason stood up, gripping his injury.
"You were saying?" Jason smiled slightly.
"I don't know I didn't get to finish because I was interrupted by some idiot. Do you happen to know him?" Katlyn remarked.
Jason rolled his eyes. "The point of the saying is that- you know what nevermind."
He opened the door inside the base and looked around. "I'm fine. Don't worry about it."
Katlyn and invisible Saavni followed him quickly, so not to be left behind.
Katlyn stayed silent pretending to be memorizing their route.
Jason looked at her." You were worried right?" He teased.
"Yes. I was worried. That you'll get killed and I'll have no ride back to Yobi." Katlyn replied looking ahead.
"Wow that's harsh."
Saavni took Jason's arm and put a small bubble around the wound like she had done with Katlyn.
"What the hell??!!" Jason gasped.
Katlyn burst out laughing and patted Saavni's shoulder. "Ha I'm dying!" Saavni joined in the laugher.
Jason glared at Katlyn and watched what Saavni was doing. Once she was done, he stood up. "Very funny."
She wiped her teary eyes trying to breath. "You- your face!" Katlyn tried not to start laughing again.
Jason grumbled and stalked off to the entrance. Katlyn remembered their mission and grew serious but it took some effort.
Saavni turned invisible but her snickers were still audible. "Shut up already! Was it that funny?!" Jason threw up his hands dramatically.
   Katlyn nodded, stifling a laugh.
They walked down the corridors to the back of the mountain. They turned a corner and saw the prison doors right away, but three guards were blocking the entrance. Huge metal doors were behind the rebels.
Katlyn stepped into the hallway and pulled out her blaster but Jason's hand shot out and lowered her weapon. He pulled her back behind the wall where they were hidden from sight.
"We can't risk it." He whispered. "They're near an alarm. If we fire, one of them will pull the handle." He nodded towards the red handle on the wall near the rebels.
"Oh. Then how do we get in?" Katlyn whispered.
"Am I allowed to give a plan this time?" Jason asked playfully.
She remembered their earlier quarrel and sighed, looking annoyed. "If its good."
Jason thought for a moment.
"Hmm. I got nothing." He concluded.
"Are you freaking serious?" Katlyn groaned and peaked around the corner at the rebels feeling hopeless.
She laid her head back against the wall, thinking.
"Haha. Just kidding. Just wanted to make sure you actually needed my ideas." Jason chuckled.
"Yeah. Your ideas. Not you." Katlyn replied, shoving him.
"Again, ouch." Jason replied, his hand on his side.
Saavni appeared. "So what da plan?" She asked Jason.
Jason regained himself and spoke. "I think I should go and say that general Zoro needs to see two of them. Then all we're left with is one." He smiled, as if waiting for them to take it in and congratulate him.
"Are they supposed to believe that?" Katlyn argued. " You said that you've been here before. What if those rebels recognize you? Our plan is screwed."
He put his hand to his chin. "You're right. But you're wrong."
"Why?" Katlyn rolled her eyes slightly.
"You said it was our plan. It was mine."
"Whatever same thing." She smiled.
"So....you'll probably have to tell them to leave. You're the only one who can." Jason confirmed.
Katlyn opened her mouth but was interrupted by Jason. "No Saavni can't do it because she is a strange alien who can't speak right."
Katlyn glanced at her friend. "Um I was going to say that I'll do it."
Jason looked surprised. "Oh. Ok then. Go on."
Katlyn sighed and walked into the hallway trying to look confident. She walked over to the rebels.
She too a deep breath and tried her best not to sound like a kid. " General Zoro wants to see you two." She pointed at the rebels at the door.
The scrawny rebel with brown hair looked at her. "Really? Why?"
Katlyn felt her heart beating. "Um..he didn't say."
The tall rebel stood next to the scrawny one and snarled. "Fine. But you'll stand guard until we get back."
Katlyn nodded and watched as the rebels disappeared behind the corner.
I hope Saavni turned invisible before they turned...
Jason was walking casually at the end of the hallway not looking suspicious at all.
Once the rebels were far from the prison, Jason pulled out his blaster and shot the remaining rebel. He twirled the gun and put it in his belt.
"I just wanted to do that." Jason smiled and ambled over to the prison doors. He typed in the password with his fingers swiftly.
Katlyn watched him. "How do you know the password?"
"Um....not important. But before you think that I'm one of the rebels, let's just say it was for smuggler purposes." Jason replied as the metal doors opened.
Katlyn nodded, showing that she heard him. She entered first, looking around for her father's cell.
She walked down the isle. Most cells were empty with the occasional criminal looking aliens.
Katlyn walked faster. It wasn't too big so she covered the whole prison within minutes.
She found a prison with her father's picture nailed on one of the poles. She looked up but the cell was empty.
She sunk to the ground and let the tears come.
Her father was truly gone.
