(Y/N) awoke to the feeling of coldness next to her. Her eyes opened into a squint, seeing that her husband had gotten out of bed. Even with all the years that she'd slept alone, she missed the presence of Alexander.

Too tired to do anything, she laid there.

After waiting there for awhile, she urged herself to sit out of worry. She tiredly walked to Alexander's office, where she knew he'd be. He worked too much.

She knocked on the door a couple of times, and after a few seconds, she heard a muffled, "Come in."

(Y/N) opened the door and, as she expected, her husband sat at his desk, writing.

She spoke up in a tired voice. "Alexander, come back to sleep."

Alexander squinted at his paper and brought the candle he was using closer to it. "I have an early meeting out of town," he replied.

"It's still dark outside!" (Y/N) pulled back the curtain out of frustration.

He sat up and looked at his wife. "I know... I just need to write something down."

"Why do you write like you're running out of time?" (Y/N) sighed.

Alexander gently shushed her.

She scoffed. "Come back to bed. That would be enough!"

"I'll be back before you know I'm gone."

"Come back to sleep!"

"This meeting's at dawn," he said.

"Well, I'm going back to sleep," (Y/N) says in hopes of getting Alexander to join her.

He doesn't.

She goes to leave, the taking a few sleepy steps towards the door.

"Hey!" (Y/N)'s head turns to her husband.

Alexander smiled. "Best of wives and best of women."

That was when (Y/N) forgave him all over again.

A knock on the door woke (Y/N) up for the second time that night. She pulled it open and saw her two sisters. They were dressed in black and looked solemn.

They pulled her into their carriage, and she decided not to ask. Her mother had always told her not to be curious when someone looked like they were in pain.

Little did she know that she would soon be the one in pain.

Angelica and Eliza led their little sister to the house in which the doctor who treated her son lived. Her dead son.

"No," (Y/N) thought. "Don't think about that."

The two women led (Y/N) into the same room Philip laid in. She saw her husband.

With a bullet would. Right between his ribs.

He was dying.

With a large gasp, (Y/N) kneeled beside Alexander. She took a good look at him before saying, "Always picking fights with people, huh?" She let out a weak laugh, ignoring the fact that her husband was slowly fading from the world.

"Sorry," he replied, wishing the couple could be as playful as their words were.

"You're too much sometimes."

Conversation went on like this for a couple more minutes.

Then, he was dead.

(Y/N) wailed. She sobbed. She shook his shoulders to wake him up from permanent sleep.

He didn't move.

His last words were, "I deeply regret dueling Burr. 15 minutes ago, I was too young and stupid to realize that the world was wide enough for the both of us."

Indeed, the world was wide enough for both Hamilton and Burr.

Well, uh, that happened.

Even though this chapter was kind of sad, I really enjoyed writing it. It tickled my happy conversation spots.

I know I said that things are only coming up from here, but can you really say that you didn't love the wholesome fluff between y'all and Alexander?
