November
Cool November breeze and the crunch of fallen leaves on the sidewalk. Neil Charles Bishop. These two pawns of the universe come into major play in this story. Because it is where our story begins.
It was 6:15 on November 12th of 2002. Denver, Colorado. Neil, Ebony, Parker, Scott, Candy, and Rod were on their expedition to Thomas Jefferson High School. They lived in a fairly big neighborhood on the Southeast side of town. Walking to school was a pleasant experience because the weather was amazingly kind to them that day, cold, but not too cold. Perfect sweater weather, Ebony put on a playlist of a Korean band which came into perfect play with the wind, and lastly they were a together. The six teenagers were close as can be. Neil was the leader of the group. He was a lanky, tall fifteen year old with two different colored eyes making him stick out to strangers. Short tempered at times and resourceful all the time, making him extraordinary in the role of leader. Ebony was Neil's fraternal twin sister, she was older by three and a half minutes. She was kind natured and kind of an airhead, bubbly and patient. Neil's exact opposite making them perfect partners. Next is Parker, Neil's best friend. Parker is a 6'5 fourteen year old, midnight black hair and caramel skin. He was a sharp shooter when it came to comebacks earning him the nickname Parker the Barker. He stands out in almost every crowd not because he's taller than everyone but because he carries around a baseball bat that is usually strapped to his backpack, most of the time. But, at times he'll just carry it around over his shoulder and if asked about it he'll shrug and say "It's my good old walking stick, my hips aren't the best ya see!" And then will proceed by making a fake cry and falling to the side using the bat as support. Scott was the band geek of the six, he plays the flute and wears his marching band letterman jacket as if it's the best thing since sliced bread. He's shy and doesn't talk unless you initiate the conversation. Making him the perfect boyfriend for Ebony they are the "power couple" of the group as Ebony likes to say. The fifth member is Candy a lean, 6'1 japanese exchange student from Shirakawa-go a small village in you guessed it, Japan. She's a wizz at drawing and has a whole library in her head about cartoons. Her family moved her here with her aunt in hopes that she'll have a better chance at education and will live financially happy. So far she's doing very well at both as she's already being offered scholarships as a sophomore. And lastly but definitely not least Rod. They met Rod last year during lunch he walked up to our lunch table, winked at Candy, and then tripped over the trash can. Later becoming friends when he started hitting one of the school buses and was yelling about how awful our government was. Ebony and Candy joined in on the little outburst and served detention for a month with Rod making a strong bond, which spread to the rest of the group. Towards the end of their freshman year Rod asked Candy out and they've been as happy as two teenagers in love can be.
