The groans of Scott, Ebony, and other un dead jerk wads filled the air. I didn't drive this time. Rod sighed loudly, locked all the doors, and banged his head against the truck horn making the zombies flinch and back up for a second. They continued coming at us as soon as we started backing out. Rod speeded away as I desperately looked back at Ebony and Scott. Both of them limped aimlessly together. Candy fell asleep sprawled out in the backseat. "What's the point Rod, why do we keep trying?" I mumbled. "Because someone f*cking has to." Rod said angrily staring out the front windshield. We traded places with driving four or so hours later. Nothing was on the radio, everything was static. The only sound was the hum of the engine and Rod consoling Candy in the back seat. Suddenly , I Wonder Why came on, it's an old song from the 50's. But, where was it coming from? Rod started looking around the truck and finally found a small phone from one of the trucks little pockets. "It says missed call from Gary, who's Gary?" Candy asked. "I don't know, call back quick!" "On it." The phone dialed and then finally someone answered "Hello, Marium are you okay? Where are you? The zombies I've been so worried are you okay?!" A male's voice said. "Um sir we don't know who Marium is we're sorry." Candy said. "MARIUM HAMMOCK I'M LOOKING FOR MARIUM HAMMOCK. MY WIFE WHERE IS SHE!" Gary yelled through the phone, he yelled so loud even I heard him from the front seat. "Mrs Hammock is dead sir, I'm one of her students she's a zombie I'm sorry." Candy said hanging up before he could ask any other questions. I sighed and pulled over to the side of the road. "I'm hungry how about we make some lunch and eat?" I said giving the best fake smile I could. "Yea, sure." Rod grumbled pulling out one of the backpacks. I opened up my door and stepped out sighing, taking in the fresh air. I leaned against the ruck and closed my eyes. Soon after I heard a door open and looked over, Candy stood there offering me a sandwich and bag of chips. "Thanks." I muttered. "No problemo." Candy said sighing. I ate the sandwich quickly and flinched at every new sound, every sound could mean threat and I can't let these two get hurt. Rod was messing around with a telescope he found while sitting on the roof of the car. Candy was laying in the back seat looking through Ebony's old sketchbook, letting her fingers trace the outlines of each drawing. Small tears were streaming down her face. "I miss her too." I said not looking over knowing Candy had heard me. "Yea, I know." Candy replied almost inaudible. It wasn't too long before we fell asleep.
