-------Early one day, as the sky gradually bore the brightest blues of the spectrum, Timothy Drake awakened...
To the screaming of his communicator under his pillow.
He snatched it from beneath the feather down pillow and saw a face he never thought he'd see again. One of dark features, strong bones, and the ever present smirk that graced his lips.
Kon-El. Or just Conner, as he preferred.
The last time Conner and Tim had spoken was an explosive battle of wits and fury. They'd ended their friendship on awful terms and he believed they'd never see, nor speak to each other again.
So why was he calling him now?
Tim sighed and answered, putting the phone up to his ear. "Hello?"
Instantly, he was hit with a thousand sounds at once. Screams of terror, bangs and explosions, and a rawr that sounded rather like the T-Rex from Jurassic Park.
"Hey, You need to be here. Now." Conner's voice said through the phone. "I can't handle this on my own."
Tim stared forward. But why did he call him? Superman would be better fit, but he knew how bad Clark and Conner's relationship was. Batman? Bruce was off on a business trip. Any of the Justice League? They don't deal with single city fights. The Titans? That was a stretch, even for Tim.
"Are you coming, or what." Conner's voice said again, obviously distracted, though it was impossible to tell by what.
"Yeah, I'm on my way." Tim nodded, though Conner didn't see. He hung up the phone without saying goodbye and swung out of his bed. He dashed from his room, jumped from the top of the stairs to the bottom, and ran to the study.
He opened the piano that sat in the corner and pressed down on the D chord. The bookcase beside him slid back into the wall and revealed the elevator. He ran in and slammed the button to the bat-cave and the elevator dropped.
Upon arrival, he sprang from the elevator to the suits. He slipped his on in less then 5 minutes, which was a personal record for all of the pins, clasps, zippers, and buttons he had to do.
He dashed to the computer and tracked where Superboy had gone. Metropolis City. Easy enough lay out and pretty close.
With the coordinates done, he checked every pouch on his belt and ran to the jet. Faster to fly then to drive.
He hopped in and started it, pressing the coordinates in and pulling back on the controls. The jet flew up and blasted out from behind the waterfall.
It only took 5 minutes to get to Metropolis. With the battle in sight..... Tim would like to say he jumped right in to begin the battle but he had to stop and stare.
What appeared to be a 7,000 foot tall cockroach on it's two hind legs was actually rampaging the city. Buildings were torn down, people screaming, bloody and dying in the streets, fires burned bright with smoke polluting the air.
He shook out of his thoughts and ejected from the jet. He pulled his cape tight and soared towards the monster. He came in contact and plunged a birdarang into it as he slide down.
But it's skin was thick and while it cut the monster, it appeared as nothing more then a scratch. He landed and rolled away from the thing as it roared again.
Superboy appeared at his side. "You think that was gonna work?"
"It was worth a shot." Tim growled back, scanning over it. "Too many fatalities already. Get everyone out of the downtown area-"
