"So Hermiome," I said to the girl as we walked to the dormitories. "What's the muggle life like? And what exactly is a television?"
She giggled at my words, filling me in on all of the things within the muggle world.
"Alright first years follow me to your dormitories. Keep up come on let's go."
Once we reached the common room I was amazed. Paintings and drapes filled the room, along with the sound of the crackling fire and the smell of warmth.
"Girls dormitories on your left, boys on your right. All of your things have been brought up to your room and are ready for you to unpack them, I suggest you first years go off to bed, you have a long day in head of you."
We of course didn't listen, and sat on the couch in front of the fire. "So Ariana," said Ron siting down on the warm couch in front of the fire.
"Did you live in the castle? Before you got sorted?"
"Yes." I replied.
"Well what about your parents?"
My mouth went dry, and my throat tightens. "My mother sadly passed away during childbirth, and my father, well I don't ask about him, I'm not sure I would like the answer."
Everyone gave my their condolences, especially Harry, who knew exactly what I was going through. "So have you have lived at Hogwarts your whole life?" asked Harry.
"Well I at first lived with my Uncle Aberfourth till I was about seven, but then I moved here and have been here ever since."
We soon got kicked out of the common room by Percy, Ron's brother, who stated over and over again that we had a 'huge day in front of us.'
I hope he wasn't right.

School went on, and everything was going well. Hermione and I had grown really close, along with Ron and Harry.
I now sat in charms class, learning a simple spell. Flitwick put the class into pairs to practice, I was with Harry and Ron was with Hermione, who both looked miserable.
"Now, don't forget that nice wrist movement we've been practicing! Swish and flick, remember, swish and flick!" Harry and I tried, but didn't succeed. We both looked over to see Ron, not having much more luck.
"Your saying it wrong, it's leviosá not leviosá." Snapped Hermione. "You do it, then, if your so clever!" Ron said with clear annoyance in his voice.
"Wingardium Leviosa!"
The feather rose high in the air, and I smiled for Hermione. "Well done Miss Granger!" Said Professor Flitwick clapping his hands together excitedly. "Five points for Gryffindor!"
