The troops are resting after a mission resulting in a horrible defeat. The rain stopped and they just finished burying their own comrade-in-arms.

"Your condition is not really looking good, eh?" Crowley asked, Rahayu sighed in return.

"The Japanese are expanding their troops by various means... and they are getting familiar to the terrain. We are losing our hand."

The air is still cold after the rain, yet it is somehow refreshing. Dutch East Indies is a tropical countryー temperatures teach 25 to 30 degrees Celcius daily. Now is the rainy season, so expect lower end temperatures.

"...but you got yourself a new hand."

Crowley's words made Rahayu glance at him, and their eyes meet.

"...not much of an easy truster, are you? Even though I am your friend?" He continued. He could tell from her eye only, she doesn't trust him even though the deal is made.

"It is only natural." Rahayu sighed. "Who would trust a hollander like you? Your men can destroy us as good as destroying the Japanese troops."

Crowly scoffed at that attitude of hers. Distrusting... well, no wonder. If he knew something about her it's her pure hatred to the Dutch... and Japanese.

"...well... I believe you won't betray me." Crowley gave a smile. Rahayu stare at his european features intently.

"...I have no reason to betray you. I have said my reasons too, on why I strike the deal with you." He continued.

"Well, I never really said I accept the deal in the begin with..." Rahayu spoke, mumbling a bit. "...I'll accept if after you prove yourself to me."

"It's hard to trust a hollander, see. Especially like you who brought so many men in... I cannot stop thinking of possible betrayal and sorts." The woman continued.

"Being paranoid and cautious is normal." Crowley shrugged. He had seen a paranoid person to rule a countryー that is, of course, our ever so beloved Herr Führer, Adolf Hitler.

"...and I am not a hollander. Stop calling me that." Crowley hissed.

"Your face looks like one." Rahayu hissed back. The man sighed and put his hand on his face.

"I am German, Rahayu. Deutch, not Dutch."

"I heard your men talk and their language is similar to Dutch."

"Don't make us the same! We are different!"

Rahayu sighed as she breaks off the small argument. "Fine, whatever." She said.

"...so, to prove ourselves... and to strengthen the deal," Crowley spoke again.

"How about you give me and my men a mission? Like, base raiding or whatnot."

Rahayu single eye met with Crowley's. They stare at each other intently, as if they are speaking through their eyes without words. Rahayu breaks off the eye contact and glanced over to the men clad in black armor. That is a liability in a tropical country... the heat would hinder them, but considering Crowley told her that they are super-soldiers, maybe not?

"...in Bandoeng... no, somewhere near Bandoeng in the preanger..." Rahayu mumbled my herself.

"Preanger?"

Crowley's short query pulled Rahayu's attention. She nodded.

"Preanger... or what we call as parahyangan, is the cultural and mountainous region around West Java." She explained.

"Ever since the VOC (Dutch East India Company) came in, it's used to grow coffee, tea, and other plantations for their exploit. Now it is used by the Japanese for their food source... the Romusha and the Dutch slaves are there, and I bet it is under Japanese supervising... which means we can steal their weapons from there albeit not much. But I bet they won't go down without a fight, especially that it's one of their food sources."
