"Josh, I see an exit up ahead," Tyler telepathically said to Josh as they moved silently but quickly through the dark corridors. The only thing that made the pair visible in the darkness was Tyler's red glowing eyes as they flicked back and forth, looking for another path, and Josh's red glowing hair that swayed back and forth with his movement. The illumination of the two cut through the darkness like a knife.

"Alright. Wanna go for it? I'll scan for human presence first if we do."

"Yeah we gotta get outta here."

"Alright. Scanning..." Josh said as he mentally surveyed the results of the scan. "There's someone in the corridor across from us. It's just them in that corridor but in the one behind us there are about nine people. Ten against two. Wanna risk it?"

Tyler hesitated, thinking about it.

"If we don't try then we'll never get outta here, Ty."

Tyler nodded, agreeing with Josh at last. "Alright. Let's do this," he said, holding a hand up at Josh.

Josh immediately reached up and put his hand against Tyler's. They closed their fingers around the other's hand, leaving only their pointer fingers up. They pointed their joined hands down at the ground and swirled them in a circle. A bird that looked as if it was made of black glass appeared on the floor beneath their joined hands. It hopped soundlessly around on the floor and looked up at them with small, red, glowing eyes, awaiting it's command.

Josh let go of Tyler's hand and knelt down on the floor. He held his hand out, palm up, for the bird to hop on. It hopped onto his hand and Josh brought it up next to his mouth and whispered a command to it.

"Clear the way for us," he whispered. The bird silently hopped off his hand and took off down the dark corridor.

The pair flattened themselves against the wall, hiding themselves from the view of anyone in the surrounding halls. They stood silently, waiting for a reaction from the man in the hall across from them.

"What the heck is that?" He asked, aloud, to no one in particular. The click of a button was heard. "Calling for backup; unknown possible threat in hall number fift—" he said, getting cut off mid-sentence by Tyler and Josh's familiar. It hadn't harmed the man—it simply froze him in time and nothing but him. It'd wear off in a few hours, but the people who were frozen didn't know that.

The two watched as the bird flew past them and into the next corridor to postpone the other nine. Six of the nine 'Sleepers'—which that was what Tyler and Josh heard Debby and Jenna call themselves—were male and the remaining were female. The bird flew into the hall that held the Sleepers and it hovered there for a minute, letting them get a good look at it. Tyler and Josh watched silently from the safety of their unnoticed corridor.

"What is that?" One of the girls asked, fear present in her voice.

"It's a—It's a bird. I think?" Said one of the boys.

"It looks like it's made of...glass?" Guessed the girl who had first spoken.

"It's not doing anyth—" started another boy, but was cut off when the bird swept down and froze him in time.

"What the hell?" Said another girl as she watched the bird freeze another boy. She watched in awe and confusion as the bird swept down and froze her fellow Sleepers one by one. The girl was the last one to be frozen, yet she hadn't thought of calling for backup.

Tyler and Josh began to emerge from the shadows when they heard quick but cautious footsteps. They quickly shrunk back into the shadows of the corridor, but it was to no avail because of Tyler's brightly glowing eyes and Josh's brightly glowing hair.
