"Block your face

"Block your face." Lindel instructed as he continued teaching me hand-to-hand combat but it felt more like Lindel was kicking my ass more than anything. "It hurts!" I complained as I rubbed my forearms where his wooden staff kept hitting. "And it's unfair because you have a staff and I don't." I pointed out.

"Yuki, you don't need a staff. How many times do I have to tell you to cover your arms with ice when blocking? It will help block the impact of my attack." he explained for what seemed to be the millionth time. But to be honest I didn't want to use it especially during combats with Lindel because I was afraid to hurt him. Lindel noticed the pain reflected in my eyes as he smiled assuringly at me and said "You won't hurt me."

His smile warmed my cold heart. Lindel was special to me in so many ways that I'll never understand, in ways he can never imagine. Lindel was the first to ever be genuinely kind towards me and most of all he was the first to ever not be afraid of me. He trusted me that I wouldn't hurt him and I wouldn't dream of ever doing so.

"There's no need to be afraid Yuki." he comforted me.

Unlike the cold little world that surrounds me, every time I look at Lindel he was always surrounded by this warm light. Lindel relaxed his own body as he stopped his fighting position, he casually walked up towards me with his warm smile still plastered on his face.

"You don't have to be afraid of yourself, Yuki. I'm here for you." he comfortingly said as he stretched his hand out for me to hold. "You've been growing stronger and stronger each day. But I know you can be stronger than that," he said. I looked at his outstretched hand as it awaited my own. Lindel to me was like family, the dragons around us were like family to me, they feel like family to me more than all of my foster parents combined.

I smiled warmly as much as I can as I placed my hand upon his, but upon contact, something happened. As far as my training goes I've only learned to control my ice, make it snow, and retract my ice. So the moment Lindel's hand made contact with mine a gentle breeze swift through and a beautiful undescribable thing happened. My ice shot up almost like it was a firework but the amazing thing was that my ice was glowing and sparkling all at the same time. Both of our eyes widened as we stared at the mystery that we've created.

Once it was gone our eyes were still glued to the spot where the ice shot up.

"Lindel... what happened?" I managed to ask. His eyes finally met mine and that's when reality started crashing down. I was still holding his hand, his warm hand. Lindel smiled as he gave let out a soft chuckle. "Apparently, we are compatible," he said oh so casual like it was the most normal thing to say. I couldn't help but feel my cheeks burning up as my ears felt like they were on fire.

What the hell is he saying? I tried covering up my face with my free hand but there was no escape from those piercing eyes of Lindel.

"How about we take a break. I can go prepare dinner while you rest then, later on, we can practice once more before retiring for the day?" he suggested. I smiled with a blush still painted on my cheeks. Lindel walked away and my eyes stayed glued on him until he turned around a corner of the cliff and disappeared.

3rd person's POV

Once Lindel turned the corner to get out of Yuki's sight he immediately fell back against the side of the cliff with his back against the wall. He clutched his chest to calm down his erratic beating heart. He felt as if his heart would simply jump right out of his chest, in all of his centuries on earth he hasn't felt this way.

He knew what it is, he's been on earth too long to know exactly the cause of his heart beating like crazy. He remembered Yuki's blue eyes as they stared into his own almost as if she was able to see right into his very soul.

"Lindel-sama? Are you okay?" one of the younglings suddenly asked which caught Lindel off guard for the first time. He sighed as he calmed his heart and smiled towards the young dragon. "Yes, why don't you help me prepare some soup for Yuki?" he asked which excited the young dragon.

Yuki, on the other hand, was sat on the ground with her head between her knees.

Her heart wouldn't stop beating fast and each time she shut her eyes to calm herself, an image of Lindel staring at her pops up which only adds fuel to the fire in her heart.

Okay, so I'm confused on which way to write my story since I have two plots in my head. So I'll let you guys choose... Do you want drama / action / suspense / romance type or a smooth sailing romance with no drama? Please let me know in the comment section below. Once we've come to a decision then I can finally start writing longer updates.
