It was a few years since I've been on my own. I've learned lots of things about the new world but mostly I was disappointed. I was nowhere near finding his voice. I've been to different cafes where they would have singers come in and entertain their guests. I've seen every opera show and found every street singer. But none of them had the voice I was looking for.
People suddenly applaud the show signaling that it was done. I shook my head to wake me up from daydreaming. My blue hair was tied up as I wore a small hat. The hat matched my white clothes. I was able to make a living in London by rooming with different women and working in different cafes. At first, I was a mess. I couldn't do my job correctly and broke a lot of things along the way.
But now I was a whole new person. I was rarely clumsy and I had my powers controlled. But I felt tired. Mostly tired of all this disappointment. I was losing hope of ever hearing his voice again. It won't be long till I have to move away to avoid people from suspecting my age.
"Excuse me, you're Yuki Frost, right?" a deep voice asked me right as I was about to leave the building. I turned around to see an extremely tall male standing before me he had brown eyes and blond hair. I turned around to face him and said "That's me. Who's asking?"
"My name is Elias Ainsworth." he said it as if it meant anything. I raised an eyebrow and was about to walk away from the weird guy. But his next words stopped me. "I'm a friend of Lindel."
A friend of Lindel means that he wasn't normal. I mean I wasn't normal to begin with.
"You don't look like a friend of Lindels." I told him.
"Come with me, away from mortal eyes." he said emotionless as he led the way. We went down one of the small narrow alleyways and stopped at a dark purple door. He knocked with his cane and mumbled a few words suddenly the door creaked open.
"Where are we?" I warily asked. For all I know he could be an enemy.
"This is the only place where our kind could be without hiding. Think of it like a safe haven." he explained. First it was a dark hallway poorly lit by torches but then it led into a bright room filled with strange people and creatures. Once Elias and I were in the room everyone came to a stop and the whole room went silent.
Elias kept walking, ignoring the stares, as he went straight to the bartender. Elias gave a stiff nod to the bartender as the bartender led us towards another green door. It was a small room that seemed like for private meetings. The bartender served us tea as Elias and I sat across from each other. Once the bartender was out of the room I was cautious about every little thing that Elias did. Ready to freeze anything that would cause me harm.
"Maybe I'll seem more of Lindel's friend like this..." he said when suddenly his appearance changed.
At first, his appearance almost made me jump out of my chair. I was completely thrown off. I didn't expect him to be this... scary. But I have no doubt that he was Lindel's friend. Lindel did had a peculiar taste in his friends.
I chuckled as I remembered Lindel. "I have no doubt that you're his friend."
"I'm a mage. Lindel told me that he had a sweetheart friend in London." he said which made me choke and spit out the tea.
Sweetheart?
He said it so carelessly as if he had no idea what it meant.
"Sweetheart? Was that the word that Lindel used?" I asked.
"Yes, he said this sweetheart friend of his was dear to him. I got curious for Lindel never showed any interest in anyone." he said. "Judging by your hair you have something to do with ice."
I smiled as I touched his cup of tea that he was holding and made his hot tea turn into ice. "From what I can tell I am an ice fairy."
"I figured as much. I am here to ask for your help... but it's not for me." he said.
"I can't help much though I am on an urgent mission." I told him as I stood up to leave but then he said "It has something to do with Lindel. He made you leave on purpose and now he's in trouble." which made me freeze and make me tremble with fear.
"What do you mean?" I asked fiercely not caring if I sounded demanding.
"Do you know how your parents died?" he asked me.
I didn't answer him as a sign for him to carry on.
"Long time ago... there was a fire kingdom and an ice kingdom. Both were constantly at war. Of course, ice being the most respected kingdom won. But right as the ice kingdom decided to just live among humans. A lone fire fairy survived and killed your parents. He thought you were no threat to him and let you live but when he heard that you're with Lindel. Everything changed. Now he's trying to kill Lindel."
"What?" I practically shouted. Anger and sadness was swirling inside of me. He was explaining everything too fast that it was hard to take everything in.
"He told me not to tell you but I fear for my friend." he told me.
I had no time to hesitate. I had to save Lindel.
And something happened that never happened before.
A burning fire started in my heart as my surroundings turned ice cold without freezing it. The temperature of the room turned below freezing making Elias shiver.
Now I had a new mission.
Save Lindel.
Kill the person who murdered my parents.
