Abigail 's POV.
"Abigail Babe Ruth Williams! " Eva, my best friend of all time, shouts.
"What! " I exclaim and she smirks.
"Sorry, I just remembered the baseball star Babe Ruth."
"Don't call me that, ever!" I end pointing at her sternly.
"Sorry, I didn't know you hated Babe Ruth. " She says confused.
"No, it's not that. " I end sighing.
"Why, what's wrong Abby? " She asks.
"Well, I've been kinda worried, that's all. " I tell her.
"Worried, about what? " She asks me back.
I don't know if I should tell her, she's my best friend and all but I don't want to worry her with these kind of things.
See, I'm Abigail Lois-Rose Williams. My dad is Derrick Williams, one of the world's billionaires. So, yeah, my dad's really rich but he doesn't want to be noted that way. He's very humble about it. He grew up in a wooden structure he shared with his parents and two siblings. He's always saying that it's only by God's grace that he's made it today or he could have ended up in the streets. Because of that, he's a devoted Christian, he says God gave him all these things not for his keeping but to serve others, and so he has orphanages everywhere and invests helping illiteracy in world, mostly Africa. So, yeah, I don't like to talk about stuff concerning my family because I don't want to seem like I'm bragging or something.
"What is it? Don't tell me you don't want to say it because I'm not as rich as you guys so I won't understand. " Eva says bluntly and I feel embarrassed.
"No, no, Eva don't say that! " I exclaim a little embarrassed.
Eva folds her arms in front of her. " So what is it? "
I sigh, " So we finished Harvard, six months ago right? " I ask.
"Yep. " Eva says chewing on a grape.
"Yeah, my dad wants me to work at one of his companies for six months. " I say.
"Isn't that what you wanted?" Eva asks me confused.
I sigh, "Doing a job for six months was my idea, doing it in dad's company was not my idea. "
Eva looks at me confused, " What's wrong with working in your dad's office? " She asks.
"Nothing, it's just that dad's going to give me special treatment, you know, and I don't like that. I want to be treated like any other employer, you know. I want that feeling not special treatment. " I end sighing.
"Then tell your dad. " Eva says shrugging.
"I'll tell him but I know him, he's not going to budge." I say.
"I don't think so, he's your dad, I'm sure he'll understand. " Eva says.
"Eva he's not going to." I say shaking my head.
"Then let's go to him now then, and see. " Eva says seriously.
"You think we should? " I ask.
She smiles and pulls me up the stairs to my dads den where he always likes to hang out with mum and my siblings even though both my brothers are in Britain, each working in one of his companies over there. Right now he's relaxing with mom and my little sister. He and mom notice Eva and I, they smile and we smile back.
"Hi Mr and Mrs Williams! " Eva shouts grinning.
"Hi Eva, how's your dad and siblings doing?" Dad asks her back.
"They're doing great, my dad said he'd like to come here sometime to thank you for funding my mom heart surgery. " Eva says smiling.
"Oh Eva, he doesn't have to. You are part of this family, you, your parents and siblings. " My mum says smiling.
"She's right. " My dad says.
"And I'm very happy Mrs Jefferson is doing alright now, I miss her apple pies. " My little sister Jamie says with a smile.
"Yes we do. You are like a sister to me, a twin if you may add except you have straight hair and mine's all tangled up in a 4c style. " I end and we all laugh.
"So what brings you guys here? " Dad asks.
I look at Eva and she nods giving me the go ahead. "Dad, I wanted to talk about the job I wanted to do. "
My dad smiles and says, "Yeah, what about it? "
I sigh, " I don't want to do it in your company. " I say.
My dad looks at me sternly, "Why? " He asks.
I sigh, "Dad, we all know that if I work in your company I'm going to be given special treatment."
"Special treatment? " My dad asks and looks at my mom laughing nervously. "What special treatment? "
My mom smirks, "Oh come on honey, we all know Abby is right. "
"Yeah dad. " Jamie says and I smile. "Look at Israel and Nick. "
"What have I done? " Dad shouts shocked that he's being attacked.
"Look dad, I don't want to work at your company because I'll be given special treatment. I don't want that. I want to be treated the same as every employee not specially because I'm you daughter. " I say.
Dad looks at me and smiles, "But-but, who-who, said you'll be treated that way? " He says stammering.
I smile, "No one has to say it, it's been a tradition of yours. "
"Okay, then. " Dad says. "Then-then, I won't-wont let them treat you special, you'll be like every other worker. " He ends.
"Oh honey, that's a lie. " My mum says smiling.
"A lie, what makes you think I was telling a lie?" He asks.
"Because, you stammer when you lie." Jamie says smiling and dad frowns.
"Oh, alright! Abby darling, you can work anywhere you want if you don't like my place. " Dad says and I can't help but smile and jump on him and give him a big hug and kiss.
"But, it'll only be the places I give you. " He says.
"What? " I ask confused.
Dad sighs, "I have a list of very good friends you can work with. I want you to work with one of them and no other alright. " My dad says.
"Alright. " I agree a little sad.
"But don't worry, you'll love them. " He says smiling.
"He's right Lois-Rose, you'll actually love working with any of them. " My mom says smiling.
"Why, do you know them Mrs Williams? " Eva asks.
"I don't know, but I think I do. " Mom says staring at dad who's smiling gleefully.
