? POV
I made my way down the dark, low tunnel that the demons had carved for me. The girl trailing behind me was beginning to stir, but I paid her no heed, as she was powerless in my influence.
I glanced back at her. Her crisp white blouse was smeared with mud, and her eyes were terrified.
"I- I woul-would watch o-out if-" she broke into a coughing fit. The air down here was toxic. "I would watch out if I were you," she said, her voice more clear. "My husband is a pretty influential man. He-he'll come after you."
I snorted. The reason I had brought her was because Tony Stark was Iron Man. I needed to draw the demibrats and so-called 'Avengers' here, and a kidnapping was the only way to do it. Besides, it was easier to get Pepper Potts than it was Iron Man himself.
It was only an added plus that she perfectly fit my job description. Since Stark had no children, his technical next generation had been his soon to be wife. And Tony Stark had done some pretty bad things in his day. This was both a punishment for him and a trap. My boss had been very pleased.
It was bad not to please my boss.
I reached the end of the tunnel and tossed the girl, whimpering, into steel prison. Where she would remain, as bait, until the Avengers, sea, and wisdom came...
Percy POV
I woke with a start. Demigod dreams were never good, but this dream was particularly bad. Furthermore, it wasn't like my other dreams, because in the dream, I was Alastor. At least, that's who I thought I was in the dream.
I got up slowly, stretching. I strained to remember the whole dream, but it was slipping away like water. Heh, puns.
I slipped on a Camp Half-Blood bright orange shirt and jeans. I wandered out of my cabin just to run into Annabeth, putting my elbows up in defense.
"Whoa, whoa," Annabeth said, stepping back. "What are you doing?"
I gave her a puzzled glance. Why was she asking me why I was leaving my own cabin? "Um... I'm leaving my cabin."
Annabeth shook her head. "I mean, you were supposed to be up, like, an hour ago."
I glanced at my shield watch. "Oh, shoot. Wait, why was I supposed to be up?"
"We were going to meet the Avengers to find out more about Pepper."
"Oh, about that. So...I had this dream."
Annabeth led me inside my cabin and paid rapt attention to me as I told her what happened in the dream. I tried to remember all the details, but I they kept evading me.
Annabeth sat quietly when I had finished. "You're sure that you were Alastor in the dream?"
I nodded. I was definitely Alastor in the dream.
"Well, you remember a dark tunnel, right? So maybe that could give us a clue..." she mused. "Tell me the last bit again."
"'I reached the end of the tunnel and tossed the girl, whimpering, into steel prison. Where she would remain, as bait, until the Avengers, sea, and wisdom came,'" I reeled off, surprised at my own memory.
Annabeth stood rather suddenly. "We have to tell the Avengers and Chiron that it's a trap."
I nodded and stood up, making for the door. Annabeth grabbed my arm. "We still have to meet with the Avengers. We can tell Chiron while we're there," she said. I nodded again and whisked us away to Avengers tower.
