Iron Man POV
I stared desolately at their bodies. They were lifeless and lying on the ground, hands together, as close as they could be.
I nodded at Steve. We were going to finish this. For them. For Pepper.
Steve got everyone together. Tartarus was still roaring with victory.
At the same time, Steve threw his shield, Natasha her swords, Hulk, well, threw himself, Peter threw webs, and Thor threw lightning. I came in last with a blaster last.
Tartarus crumbled, under my palm, fulfilling the prophecy. We stood there, breathless, until we looked at Percy and Annabeth, still in the same position. Natasha jogged over to Hulk and started to calm him down.
I scooped up Percy's body and Steve picked up Annabeth. I almost broke down there- they were supposed to go on, live long lives, be together. All of that was ruined.
I had no idea how we were supposed to get back. I don't remember how we did it- I think Thor did something. But the next thing I knew, we were standing on Half-Blood Hill.
Natasha, Bruce, and Thor went first, shielding the bodies. Leo and Nico sprinted forward.
"You're back, you're back! Did you do it?! Did you defeat Tartarus?" Leo said excitedly.
Nico frowned. "Where's Annabeth and Percy?"
Leo's smiled faded. "Yeah. Where are they?"
Thor put his head down slightly. "I'm sorry. They died together."
Leo's decimated face put my spirits down to a level I didn't know I had. Steve and I placed the bodies on the floor at everyone's feet.

Leo POV
Their funerals were the next day. Everything was a blur, I didn't even remember it very well. A lot of our friends said words for them.
Percy's shroud was the exact color of his eyes, with a large trident woven into the fabric. Annabeth's was grey with an owl- to represent the pain she went through with finding the Mark of Athena (AKA the book in which Rick Riordan decided to torture us).
At the end, Poseidon and Athena showed up and were talking to the Avengers.
Like I said, it was all a blur. I couldn't help but think: Was this was it like when I 'died'?
Probably not.
One distinct detail I remember was Nico faintly smiling at the end. He didn't have Will anywhere near him, so of course I asked him what could possibly make him smile. He didn't tell me.
Tony POV
I felt terrible. We had done everything we could, we defeated Tartarus- or at least sent him to the deepest pits of the Underworld-, but it had come at this terrible price.
I felt that it was all on me. What if I had warned Percy, told him to duck?
He and Annabeth would still be alive. It made me feel worse when Poseidon and Athena talked with us. Here's generally how it was:
A man with a beard and dull green eyes walked up to us. He was wearing a black dress shirt, which didn't suit him, and Bermuda shorts. Beside him was a tall woman, wearing a long, black dress, her golden locks tied in a short braid and grey eyes calculating.
I figured they were Percy and Annabeth's parents.
"I'm Poseidon," said the man. "And this is Athena. We're Percy and Annabeth's parents. We wanted to say-"
"That I can speak for myself," cut in Athena. "And we don't blame you at all for our childrens' deaths. It could not have been helped, and we would like you not to blame yourselves at all."
Poseidon nodded. "What she said."
I nodded glumly. "We're really, really, really, sorry for what happened, however."
Athena nodded in thanks. "Thank you."
It was kind of awkward after that, so we dispersed and went home.
But I doubt, for the rest of my life, would I ever forget this day.
A/N One chapter to go! Reminder, there is a happy ending. Sorry for the short chapter! Next one will be very short.
Edited. I don't think I changed a single thing in this chapter, but I remember it being really bad for some reason...
