Cate's POV
“Keep on whispering in my ear, tell me all the things that I wanna hear cause it's true, that's what I like about you. That's what I like about you.” LUKE’S VOICE IS SO GOOD GEEZ!
And Calum followed him like, “What I like about you.”
“That’s what I like about you.”
“What I like about you.”
“That’s what I like about you.”
“What Luke likes about Cate.”
“That’s what I like ab- what?”
So, we had finished the pizza. Zayn had asked 5SOS to sing a song for us. And so they did.
Ashton stopped playing the drumbox and laughed so loud. Everyone laughed along with him, except for Luke and Niall. Why didn’t Niall laugh? I thought it was kinda funny.
“Luke’s got a crush on Cate?” Michael asked. “Luke Hemmings, how dare you forget about me? I’m your girlfriend, you know what, we’re done!”
Michael bent his head down and faked a cry. I giggled, and Zee giggled too! Michael is so adorable. And, yes. I had memorized their names, yay!
“Babe, I’d forget about ya anytime,” Luke said to Michael, and Michael faked a pout. “And I don’t like her in that way, okay? I mean, no offense, Cate.”
Luke was looking at me. The blueness in his eyes was so deep, I almost got drowned in his eyes. He was so serious. It wasn’t such a big deal, right? Calum was only joking, right? “It’s okay, Luke. Really,” I said as I smiled to him. “And I am very sorry for you, Michael. I’m sure there are plenty of fishes in the sea that are better at being a boyfriend than Luke.”
And with that, everyone laughed. Except for Niall. What the heck was wrong with him? Ugh.
I looked at the watch I was wearing and let out a gasp. It was already 5pm. I forgot about the concert I had to attend with Ben and Lex.
Zee looked at me. “What’s wrong?” she asked.
“I have to go. Ben and Lex are taking me to a concert by a band I’ve never even heard of.” I said, rolling my eyes.
“Wait, is it All Time Low?” Ashton asked. His eyes fixed on me.
“Hm yeah, something like that,” I replied. “How did you know?”
“We’re also going, Cate!” Calum exclaimed. “Don’t worry, they’re awesome!”
I sat silently at the back of the car, all alone. “I don’t think that’s a good idea, Cate. I mean, you with 4 guys that you just met this morning?” Ben, my brother, didn’t want me to watch the concert with the 5SOS guys. It wasn’t like they’re going to rape me or like gang bang me, right?
“Not Luke. He’s Niall’s brother. I met him a few days ago. You can trust him, Ben.” I said, trying to convince him that they’re good boys.
“I’ve actually heard of 5 Seconds of Summer before. I think they’re good friends with ATL. I don’t see what’s the problem here, Ben. I think she’s mature enough, she isn’t that little girl we used to have anymore. She’s gone, she’s a big girl now,” Lex said. I rolled my eyes because, didn’t she notice I was sitting right behind her and I could totally hear everything she had said?
“Right, Cate?” she asked as she looked at my reflection in the rearview mirror.
“Yeah, I guess so.” I said, looking away from the sight of both of them. They were to starting to make me sick.
“Cate, I don’t want to be over-protective and all. But I’m just worried,” Ben said. There was nothing to be worried, honestly. “Just please take a really good care of yourself. Okay, Cate?” I only responsed with a nod as I looked out the window.
Niall's POV
I heard the door open.
“Niall?”
I stayed in my position and I didn’t have to look back to know who it was. I heard her footsteps, getting louder as she got closer.
She fixed her skirt to sit on the hardwood floors as I watched her from the corner of my eye. She sat down next to me and she let out a sigh.
“I don’t know what to say,” she said.
“You don’t need to say anything.” I said, still not facing her.
“No,” she said. Her voice was cracking. “I actually do.”
“Like what? ‘I’m really sorry. Your dad is actually a dick for leaving you and your mom.’?” This time I turned my head to face her.
She flinched and her teary eyes got widen. “No, no, no, I’m sorry. Well, that came out wrong and too harsh.” I said to her. It was quite dark, but the darkness couldn’t hide her beautiful face. I stared at her and wondered how could someone ever be as beautiful as her.
“Maybe I should just go home,” she mumbled.
“No, no, no. Please, stay. I don’t think I can sleep tonight. Please?” I begged.
She smiled and that made my day, not only because her smile is gorgeous, but because that I was the reason behind the smile.
She nodded her head as she placed her head on my shoulder. I looked at her and her eyelids were closed. If I could just kiss her eyelids-
I heard the door open.
“Niall?”
This time I turned my head around. It wasn’t Cate, of course. She was out having fun with my brother and his friends. She was probably laughing and smiling but this time I wasn’t the reason behind it.
Anyway, it was Zayn. “I have to leave. My mom wants me home for some reason.”
“Yeah, okay. Tell your mom I said hi.” I said to him.
He chuckled. “Yeah, I’ll tell her. Good night, bro.”
“Good night.”
