Midoriya's world was an etch-a-sketch now. He couldn't physically see, but could remember how things were to supposed to be.
He remembered what his room looked like--All Might posters, All Might figurines, his desk to the left of his bed, with his computer that was being outfitted with programs for blind folks like himself now.
He remembered what the dorms he stayed in looked like, the various twists and turns to get to the elevator. He remembered the living room, though the furniture was always being moved around by everyone, so that turned out to be a little trickier to navigate.
The kitchen also turned out to be a problem for Midoriya. The cabinets were constantly changing contents and varying in amount of food. He tried to reach for a coffee mug to make coffee, but the cabinet was empty...or he was just too short to reach further back. He felt up the counter, looking for the sink where the dishes would be drying. He finally felt a coffee cup, though a small wave of guilt washed over him as he had no idea whose mug it was.
Now came the hard part of actually fixing the coffee. Midoriya was officially coming up on his second week of blindness and most of the time the other students were around to help him in the everyday tasks like this. Shouto would fix their coffee while Uraraka and Aoyama would keep him company at the dining table. It became his morning ritual.
Today, however, due to his injuries from training, Midoriya had to stay out of class. He absently rubbed his head, the bandages feeling soft in his coarse hands. He had passed out from blood loss, woke up in the infirmary surrounded by Shouto, All Might, Recovery Girl, and Hatsune. The headache that ensued was grueling, like he had finally been able to feel pain again."What happened to me?" Midoriya asked, tears streaming down his face as the pain worsened.
Todoroki slid his hand on Midoriya's back as Midoriya put his head on his knees, anxiety visible in Todoroki's features.
"When my baby got destroyed, it caused a temporary halt on the synopses to your brain, causing them to stop firing off temporarily. Thus you weren't able to feel any pain! But Midoriya, you were AMAZING! You've been able to adapt to my babies and fight like you're not blind! That was a hell of a fight! But I have to take my babies back to do maintenance, even your staff, so I'm sorry! I'll be in my workshop!" A maniacal cackle escaped Hatsune's lips, after which she was gone just as quickly as she came.
The throbbing in his head was starting to subside as Midoriya as focusing on the circles Shouto was making on his back.
"Midoriya, as class rep, I must leave now!" Iida said in his official voice. Iida shifted to lean closer to Midoriya. "As your friend, I'm quite concerned for you. I'll come see you after class today."
Midoriya turned in Iida's direction and gave his friend a weary smile.
"See you later, Iida."
"Thank you, Young Iida." All Might said. "And thank you, Todoroki, my boy! You can go back to class now with Iida."
Todoroki stopped making circles, stiffening beside Midoriya. A chill ran through the air, as Todoroki huffed.
Not wanting to cause a scene, Midoriya reached around to grab Shouto's hand, clasping it in his. Shouto relaxed a bit, the cold subsiding.
"You have to go back to class so that you can take notes that I can copy later. Okay?" Then Midoriya let out the biggest smile he could muster in his pained state.
"Izu..." Shouto closed his eyes, and held tightly onto his partner's hand. "Okay." He said opening his eyes. He let go.
Izuku could hear him dragging his feet as he left. He chuckled a bit.
"Young Midoriya," All Might started.Midoriya frowned at the memory of being lectured by his mentor. He was forced to take a day off to recover until Hatsune finished his new equipment.
"Shitty Deku, what the fuck are you doing?"
"KACCHAN!" Midoriya fumbled, his coffee cup falling onto the counter with a clang.
"I won't ask again."
"Kacchan, I was just making some coffee, but then I realized I had no idea where it is since Shouto--I mean Todoroki!--always makes it for me! Would you like a cup! I'mm pretty sure this is the coffee!" A nervous laugh escaped his lips as he poured a powdered substance into his coffee cup. A strong wiff of garlic entered his nostrils, Midoriya flinching back. Kacchan was far too silent.
A laugh broke out.
Huh?
"Kacchan?" Midoriya said in a small voice.
"DEKU THAT'S GARLIC POWDER YOU ASS!" Kacchan said through wheezing breaths. "Move aside, you goon." Kacchan moved closer to Deku until he snatched the cup from Deku's hands.
"Aren't your other senses supposed to be less shitty or something?" Kacchan was moving about the kitchen, cabinets banging, water running, buttons clicking.
"Okay, Shitty Deku. Since you made me laugh with your stupidity, I'll help you this once."
Kacchan looked up his childhood friend who was red as a bell pepper. This made him blush slightly.
"Oi, stop standing there and get over here! Also, you do realize it's the middle of the afternoon. If you drink this coffee now, you may not be able to sleep, Deku."
"It's all right, Kacchan! I'll just make it a cold brew! Then the caffeine won't be as bad, right?" Deku smiled at the banter with his childhood friend.
Kacchan blushed again. Fucking precious cinnamon roll.
"Kacchan?"
"Cinnamon rolls. I'm feeling cinnamon rolls."
"Uhh, okay. Do you know how to make them?"
"Seriously, Izuku? Do you not know who I am?" And a smile broke from his lips. "Let's get started."
