A/N: Hello my lovely readers. I'm just letting you know that this is the second to last chapter of this book, and I am currently working on more works as well. Thank you for being so patient with me, my school semester has been insane, and I'm in the process of transferring to University in the fall as well, so it has been pretty crazy for me. Anyways, here is chapter 14 for you guys. I hope you love Demeter and Beau as much as I do!

"So, I guess you're waiting for my gift to you, right?" I asked Demi quietly while we laid down in the bounce house. It was night time now, and freezing, but I couldn't find it in me to get out of the cold.

"Well, after Cerberus you promised me there was more to come, so I am just waiting for you to fulfill that promise." She laughed a gentle sound that was musical in a way.

"You're right, I owe you another gift." I laughed because I felt like I needed to fill the silence. "Are you sure what my mom gave you was ok?"

"Are you kidding me?" She turned onto her side and propped her head up on her arm. "It was the single greatest thing I've ever gotten."

"Well, that feels great. It's not like I've given you a necklace, or a painting..." I trailed off, just teasing her. She responded with a less-than-gentle shove against my shoulder.

"You know what I mean." She laughed and rolled back over so she could look at the sky.

"It's just... I know it was incredibly personal so I wanted to make sure you weren't weirded out by it." I explained further even though I already knew that there was no use in explaining.

"I think that's what made it so great. The whole personality behind it, what it represents, it's all so..."

"So...?" I urged her to continue while I laid down on my side to look at her. She was still lying on her back, gazing up at the stars and the moon, and despite how cold it was outside she looked strangely at peace. Not a single shiver escaped her.

"So surreal." She murmured out so softly, I thought perhaps she had forgotten I was here and decided to converse with the sky.

"Surreal how?" I mimicked her soft tone so as not to break her out of whatever calm had caressed her beautiful heart.

"It's just, well, I've never had a family and I never thought I needed one. I was always just here to do my job and that was all. But now, it seems like something must have changed without me even realizing it."

"Like what?" I asked her.

"I don't really know. It just seems as though something out there decided it was time for me to not be alone anymore, but I'm not so sure."

"Well, maybe that's just it. Maybe you aren't supposed to be alone and that's why we're here." I spoke too hopefully for our current atmosphere. All I knew was that if Demeter was having some sort of epiphany about us, I had no intention of stopping it. She shrugged softly.

"I don't know, it's just a feeling. It probably doesn't mean anything." She turned her head away from the sky to look at me. "All I know is that I'm glad you're here, and I'm glad I met your family and everything. It means a lot to me."

She smiled softly at me, a slight twinkle in her eye that all but convinced me that we were more than on the same page but she wasn't yet ready to admit it to herself yet. Well, to herself or to me, but that was a story for another time.

"All right, are you ready for your present?" I asked a blindfolded Demi who had just nearly made it up the stairs in one piece.
