Chapter one. New life

Eris P.O.V.

'Bright.. everything is so .. bright.....' She thought to herself, her eyes squeezed shut in an attempt to block out the blinding light. It hadn't worked.Her tiny frame shivered, before she was wrapped in a soft cloth. 'So warm..' she thought, as she felt herself being placed into warm and delicate arms. "I thought babies cried when they were born on earth, Love.." a feminine voice whispered. Eris slowly opened her eyes to look up at the woman, silvery blue orbs gazing up at the most beautiful woman she had ever seen, and the most beautiful woman she ever will see. 'Mommy..?' The child thought. She opened her mouth to try to call out to her, but all that came out was a jumbled mess of baby gibberish. She didn't like that, and upon instinct, began to cry.

A significantly deeper voice chuckled. "Well now, aren't you a charming little ball of joy.." the same masculine voice said sarcastically. Her watery eyes wandered to the source of the voice, finding the face that wasn't as.. feminine.. as her mothers. She tilted her head, ceasing her crying fit to get a better look at the male. 'Daddy..?' She thought. Yes. This person is the one she would call Daddy.. when she figured out how to speak that is. "Carswell..! She's so cute!" Mommy cooed in a gushy manner. "Well, I think we should start flight training as soon as possible for my lil' Captain, Cress" Daddy grinned. 'I wonder what flight training is.. or why mommy called me cute.. but right now, I think it's time for a nap..' As the infant started to drift off, she heard Cress mumble something softly, her grip tightening slightly. But the only thing that she was able to decipher from her statement, was when she mumbled the words, "Our little Eris.. I... so..y....." she fell into a light slumber before she heard the rest, but at the moment, she hadn't thought about it.
