Why are you my remedy?
If our love's insanity,
Why are you my clarity?"

"Judges, who is the first girl to perform?" Ryan asked the three judges.
There was a long, dramatic pause between Ryan's question, and the answer from the judges. This show is becoming ridiculous. Dragging things out is not a solution to the huge time slot we need to waste. Having 10 of us perform will take an hour at the most, so Idol took up a two-hour time slot on the network. How does that make any sort of logical sense?
"At first, we didn't know what to think of this girl. We were a bit weary, but she has proven us wrong over the past few weeks." Jennifer said.
Everyone is looking at me, making my heart race faster than ever. It may be me, but there are also other girls here that it could be. Staring down at my lap, I closed my eyes, hoping and praying for the best.
"Please welcome to the stage, Avery Wilkins!" Harry announced.
Holy shit. I jumped up from my seat, nearly racing out to the stage. They picked me, THEY ACTUALLY CHOSE ME! Chills went down my spine as the reality of this whole thing spun through my mind.
Adrenaline is pumping through my veins, and my body feels somewhat numb. While my rehearsal tape played, I used it as my time to collect my thoughts and get my shit together. Right now, I feel like jumping around and freaking out. However, my excitement needs to be lowered to a minimum, since I have to perform.
"Performing Warrior, here is Avery Wilkins!" Ryan announced, clearing the stage.
Pressing my fingers down on the piano keys, I played the beautiful melody of Demi Lovato's Warrior. The song perfectly describes how I feel about my past. Singing this song is my way of sharing my emotions with America.
Halfway through the song, I found Sam and the rest of the guys sitting in the audience. Sam gave me a smile, and a reassuring thumbs up. Seeing his face was like a breath of fresh air, and calmed me down in an instant.
With tears in my eyes, I finished off the song strong. "You can never hurt me again..."
Somehow, my performance was worthy enough for a standing ovation from Keith. Glancing over to Sam, I noticed him on his feet, clapping. I lightly laughed, getting up from the piano bench and walking over to the center of the stage.
"Avery... that was amazing." Jennifer said.
I smiled, listening to the crowd cheering. I'll take it as them saying that they agree. "Thank you..."
"Why these two didn't stand up is beyond me." Keith said. "You perfectly captivated everyone in this room, and sang flawlessly."
"Avery, you definitely set the bar high for everyone else tonight." Harry began, smiling at me. "I predict big things for you in this competition, keep doing what you're doing."
The crowd cheered once again, the sound ringing in my ears. Ryan appeared next to me, and whispered a quiet 'good job' in my ear. While he presented my voting information, he sent me off to hang out in the lounge. The rest of tonight is going to be a blast, but I'm still worried. Not for myself, but for my friends who are still sitting in that room, waiting for their name to be called.
Ryan sent the show to a commercial, and I sighed, letting my head fall into my hands. Thank goodness, the stress of performing is over. I don't think I would have been able to sit in that room, squirming around in my seat.
